9mm 115gr vs heavier

I haven't shot 115gr in quite awhile since I've been reloading 124gr. Did some side-by-side shooting today with both of those weights. The 115gr is louder and noticeably harsher on recoil. Both were Speer Lawman.

I really do prefer the 124grainers at this point. I wish now I had picked up more 124gr Lawman when I had the chance at $10.99 (I prefer using commercial ammo for formal training classes).

I haven't noticed too much difference between 115's and 124's, as far as recoil and noise, but 124's are what my Glock 17L likes more than anything. I only shoot my reloads, but across the board as far as my reloads are concerned, no matter what powder I use, 124's shoot best.

I don't really notice any difference in recoil/muzzle blast between the common 9MM bullet weights and only a moderate increase in shooting my 115+P+ defense loads.

I've always liked 115 grain the best in 9mm.

I prefer heavier. 147 grain, if you please. HST or Ranger.

When I carry my CZ75 Compact I usually have it loaded with Winchester 147gr. RA9T. If I use any 115 gr. it's Hornady 115gr XTP's. I have several boxes and a local dealer still has some for $25/box of 50.

Here's a link about the XTP's.

I'm with you!

The best 9mm range ammo I ever shot was 124-grain Speer Lawman. I bought some when I saw it on sale from an on-line dealer a couple of years ago and haven't seen any on sale since. Really excellent range ammo.
