Lead recycler

My friend Jake and I built this trap so I would quit planting lead in the hill side behind the house.
3/4 inch steel for the sides, 1/2 inch top and bottom, the pipe is a heavy industrial gas cylinder shortened a little.
Works great !

Wow!

Looks Great. Design appears to work fine. Any idea on how much it weighs?

Empty, or full of lead projectiles?

Great looking setup. I've seen some designs that have the projectile spinning inside the catch chamber to slow them down before dropping. I suppose yours does something similar?

Jim, that how this one works the side plates are angled to the right side of the cylinder, you can kinda see it in the first picture.
Theres only a 1/2 inch gap or opening between the side plates where they inter the cylinder at an angle.
The bullets spin around inside the cylinder and drop in the bucket.

Just tell yourself for the next few years I have to go shoot so that I can break even with my lead catcher.

Very nice job Bob! Now you can recycle those air gun pellets for 45acp bullets.

I suppose you have to stand within three feet of it just to make sure your shots actually make it into the trap.

Mostly scrap metal, used Jake's plasma cutter and welder so I don't have a dime in it.

A pellet trap on steroids. I like. Now you'll have extra lead for casting.

I recycle air gun pellets into .45 ACP bullets. They work just fine.

Great idea.
You should patent that design before some one else does and makes a fortune selling them.
