Difference in primers?

Whats the difference between cci 400 small rifle and cci 450 small rifle primer? I think its my speer manual that shows both on loads for 223.

450 is a magnum primer. Little hotter.

Yea I ended up answering my own question. Looked up cci's charts, diddnt know they had one. Wonder why the manual would use magnum primers and non magnum interchangably.

I don't have the Speer manual in front of me, but my guess is they don't use them interchangeably. Some slower powders, ball powders work better with a magnum primer.
