Micro 9mm

Out of all the micro 9mm's out there (single stack sub-compacts), I was wondering what everyone's preference is? I have 3 guns I had at the top of my list, on paper. But I'm open to hearing some feedback on all the models available.

1. Kahr sub compact 9mm (both polymer and stainless)
2. Walther PPS
3. Sig P290

I would stay away from the P290. I haven't heard anything good about that pistol. You might also want to look at the Ruger LC9.

I have a first gen Kahr MK9 and a second gen Kahr PM9. Both of mine are excellent little guns with the edge going to the MK9... accept for the weight factor.

1. Kahr sub compact 9mm (both polymer and stainless) Poly only, stainless is too heavy. PM9 is pretty, but the CM9 is better deal. MK are pretty but are a heavy little bricks.
2. Walther PPS - too long
3. Sig P290 - Too wide

I think Ruger's LC9 and the kel Tec Pf9 are better for carry

I got a parkerized PF9 for summer carry, and Im very satisfied with it. Is practically weightless and flawless. It goes bang every time. I heard LC9's are nothing but a copy of the pf9 but with more glitches. Before I shot mine for the first time, I buffed and honed out all of the machine marks and metal shavings and like I said, it went BANG from the first shot on.

Hi,

I love my PM9. I agonized over buying one for years because of the price, but once I finally got over the cost and ordered one I found out what I had been missing. The CM9's price point is incredible for the capability of this little pistol. What other 6+1 9mm can you pack in your pocket easily all day every day. There is a guy over at the kahr forums who has over 30K through his. If you want pocket carry this it a sweet pistol.

Good luck,

Alan

I love my PPS. It feels too thin in my hand but still shoots great.

I had a PM9 before buying my G26. Wonderful little pistol. Incredibly compact, beautiful quality and amazing accuracy. Deal breaker for me was it would not load the first or second round of a fresh mag using the slingshot or overhand method. It would jam against the feed ramp. Known issue. Sold it and now just deal with the larger G26 and haven't looked back.

Hard to beat the PM9. It's one gun you can have on you all the time basically while still giving you a decent cartridge in the 9mm.

It has a few quirks I don't like though (crappy mags, stiff slide).

My PM9 has around 1500 rounds downrange with zero malfunctions.
It's the perfect pocket rocket.

about 450 rounds through my CM9, looked at a lot of guns before buying it. the only other ones i considered at the end were the PM9 and diamondback. i picked it because it was lighter and a little cheaper than the PM9 and i decided the diamondback just didn't feel as good in my hand. the CM9 has a smooth trigger and handles well.

Not to hijack but has anyone tried the Diamondback DB9. My LGS has some and they seem to be a pretty good knock off of a Glock.

PPS is a great gun, but pretty big for pocket carry. It can be done, but I'd go with a smaller Kahr if you plan on pocket carrying with any regularity. PPS definitely won't fit in all pockets either.

None. I'll stick with my 26.

My PM9 goes bang every time. I probably would have gotten a CM9 if they were available when i bought the PM9, but they weren't "invented" yet.
I sold my G26 to buy the PM9 = great decision for me.

This one is showing promise so far. Beretta Nano 1000 rounds no lube, no issues:

Thanks guys, seems CM9 is the way to go for a pocket 9mm and PPS is a nice single stack option for hip carry, at least that is what I got out of this thread.

I've never been a fan of lasers, but kinda looks tempting on the CM9, does anyone have experience with the CM9 with CT laserguard?

I have a P290 that has been back to Sig twice. I still get a sporadic light strike with it. Maybe a Rohrbaugh sometime in the future.

I just started using a Ruger LC9 in a De Santis Nemesis pocket holster. It is great to be able to slip it into the pocket of cargo shorts and not have to holster the Minotaur. Good little gun.
