My new little one.
I know this is CopTalk and I've not posted much in the last year but I had to show off my little one and ask for prayers of strength as we go on this journey.
The full story is at http://elliana.coltfreeman.net
This is my baby girl Elliana born to us just a few short days ago. We found out around 26wks that she likely had a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. We have spent the last week in the NICU and PICU at UVA. She has finished the first of 3 open heart surgeries; while she is still on a ventilator she has been breathing on her own today and we hope to get her off soon!
I had to come home today to take care of getting her added to our insurance and to keep myself sane while I am away I edited these few images. While many have missed focus and are not up to my normal standards they do tell a story. Those of you who pray I would covet those prayers, and those that do not warm wishes are also welcome. She has been a little fighter from the start and I can't wait till I can hold her again sometime this week.
Sarah got to hold her for just a second before they wisked Elli to the NICU.
I got to follow Elli downstairs to the NICU.
Day #2 they had to raise Elli's Prostaglandin to keep her Ductus Arteriousus open so it gave her sleep apnea and they entubated

Got to hold her a few hours before her surgery on Tue
Elli recovering in the PICU after surgery

These are the machines and medication keeping Elli alive
Grandma getting a finger squeeze.

They wired her breastbone back together after the swelling post-op went down, the tubes are for drainage. Got rid of about half the meds Fri.

Still waiting for her to open those beautiful eyes to see what color they are.

I'll spoil it for you - they're blue. They always are, at this age. They'll change later....but for now, big baby blue eyes are the order of the day.
My first two (girl then boy) kept their blues. Daughter has gorgeous eyes, almost gray at times. Son has lady killer bright blue ones.
My last two (again, girl then boy) have dark brown. They got those from me....but kept Mommy's dimples.
When your girl is OK, let me know. Got a story for you.

Congratulations to y'all on the birth of your new one. Will definitely keep her in prayer, and y'all as well. I am sorry that she has to go through this kind of stuff, but somehow things will work out OK for her. Blessings on her and health to her are my wishes for her.

Congrats Brother, Have faith that everything will work out for the best.
My daughter spent 2 weeks in the NICU starting the day after she was born, which incidentally happened to be St. Patrick's Day. Just remember, they don't put the B-Team players in the NICU.
If you need anything, just hollar.

Very true. The neonatal team that I fly picks up the sickest kids in the world. I have literally watched them take a 30 week gestation baby in the palm of their hands to place it into my helicopter. That same baby was brought by our hangar 4 years later as a smiling pre-K kid even after weeks on the ecmo machine.
Best of luck, wishes and most importantly prayers to you Colt.

Prayers Inbound!!!!
Most definitely in my prayers. I do have to say, you are not alone. I had a nephew born a year ago this past August with the same problem. He is 4 surgeries in, with one more planned for February, he is still small at 17 pounds but he is the sweetest, happiest kid I have ever seen.
It sure is rough seeing people go thru this, but God is good, and he will take care of your little one. God Bless, and PM me if you would like to read my sister-in-laws blog about their experience. Prayers inbound.

Congrats and prayers inbound! A friend of mine's son had HLHS. He received a heart transplant 6 months and 2 weeks ago, and now he is the happiest kid ever.
Hang in the man, God has a plan!
