And my mind has been unmade.

Still looking to get an inexpensive, full sized 1911 between now and christmas, just not real sure which one now.

Got a few that I'm considering, but I figured I'd ask the folks who have experience with 'em.

Citadel

American Classic

RIA

Main reason I started wanting the AC is the fact that I can get it locally. Not a huge fan of the hammer. Do like that it doesn't have an ambi safety. Do like that the RIA doesn't have FCS.

The RIA and Citadel are identical guns. You have only two choices there.

Look at ATI as well.

I thought they might have been pretty close, I knew some of them were made at the same factory. Explains that.

I did look at ATI, I just wish they had a 5" equipped like the Titan.

Out of the 3 RIA's I've owned, the Match model is the best.http://centerfiresystems.com/AC-RI1911MATCH-5.aspx CFS has it for a great price too. What are you looking for in it? CC? HD? Range plinker?

Plinker, introduction to owning a 1911 (have shot them before), and most importantly staying at or under $500 (hard ceiling).

My RIA FS Tactical was under $500. I plan on changing out the front sight for a Dawson Precision. And with the right magazines it's been a very fun gun. But it does come with an ambi safety, which seems that you don't want.

**The RIA was also my introduction into the 1911 world, and I've already disassembled the entire thing once.

Instead of getting fixated on the 5" model, please consider the Commander size as well.

ATI has two different Commander-size models (M1911 GI in their parlance). One has actual Novak sights and the other has generic sights, but both of them have doodads like rounded hammer, beavertail grip safety.

While Armscor and Metro are very good, I believe my favorite Filipino 1911 company is SAM (ATI).

The RIA FS Tactical (top left in pic) is set up nicely.

As far as bells and whistles go, the MetroArms American Classic line is impressive.

Like Brian said, the ATIs are defnitely worth a look.

The only model they offer in a full-size with features similar to those on the TITAN is the THUNDERBOLT. It also has a rail.
