G21 slide profile?

Here is something I've always wondered about as I watch the evolution of the Glock family. The 17/19/20/21 slides are squared off. By way of contrast the 26/27/29/30/37/38/39 models have nice sculpted corners at the barrel end of the slide. Why didn't Glock do that for all their models? If they can make the recoil properties work for some why not all?

Let me put the question another way - since you couldn't put a 37 upper on a 21 lower (wrong length) could the 21 slide be "softened" or given a "carry-melt" job to make the profile similar?

I don't remember the co. name/s but I have seen "slide melts" offered in various places when "gun surfing". And, of course, all of LWD's slides have a "bull nose".

I was just on LWD's site and they show a G20 with a Glock original slide that has a bull nose, so someone has found a way to get it done. The 20 is pictured in the barrel accessories section where the flash hiders are advertised.
