Shouldn't evolution have given it tougher skin, sneaker habits, or cause it to stop growing it's horns??

Darwin says, "Anything with Ivory ... is going down!". The Elephants are next!

Looks like my stash of rhino jerky just appreciated considerably.

It sure did. Evolution made it so this less capable animal is no longer breeding. Other animals will fill in its slot in the ecosystem, taking advantage of the extra resources that would have otherwise been monopolized by the rhino. It's offspring will be more likely to survive and breed further. Survival of the fittest.

Then, in each subsequent generation, the offspring will not look exactly like the parents. Instead, it will look like a mix of the two plus maybe a small mutation. If that mutation tends to favor its reproductive capabilities, it will in turn have more offspring. Adaptation.

Over the course of millions of years, each incremental change will add up and create animals that, without knowing the middle points, you would assume were not related in anyway.

Why do we have coccyx's? Why do we hiccup? Why do we share 70% of our genes with slugs? 50% with bananas?

I'm not betting on a lazy creator...

Not if they bear Ivory .... Darwin (The Environment which is the agent for evolution) has decreed that anything bearing Ivory ... is going down.
