TEOTWAWKI - The only handgun you can take.(No ICBMs please)

I know this topic has been batted around before, but I've noticed those threads usually turn into long lists of all the guns people own, want to own or dream existed. So here's how I want to work it.

1) The world has gone to Hades in a hand basket. North Korean Nazi Hippie Zombies have engulfed the planet and you only have time to grab ONE gun.

2) For our purposes, you are unable to have a rifle, shotgun, machine gun, musket, flamethower, MRLS system, main battle tank, fighter aircraft with attendant carrier, professional armed forces or ICBMs. YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE HANDGUN.

3) You must already own this gun.

4) Once you've made your selection, explain why you have picked the handgun you picked.

I'll go first. I'd grab my Glock 17. Why?

1 The G17 holds 17+1 in 9mm. This round is nominally more available and lighter to carry in bulk. More bullets equals more firepower. No caliber wars here - the 9mm will get the job done if I do my part.

2) Can conceal it if I really have to IWB. I also have two OWB holsters as well.

3) I have a spare parts kit for repairs. I also have four mags.

4) The gun is durable, reliable and can solider though lack of maintenance more than most. (Might not be a lot of Hoppes #9 after the mushroom clouds clear up.)

How about you all?

OK....I'll play!

Ummm....one handgun....no rifles....have to possess it now...TEOTWAWKI

My micro-optically sighted, suppressed FNH Five-seveN 5.7x28mm pistol

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_Five-seven

..very lightweight & accurate pistol....concealable....low recoil....fast follow-up

..very lightweight titanium suppressor.......sometimes silence truly is golden (especially so with subsonic ammo)

..20 rd magazine capacity...with lots of spare mags..

..will pierce light armor....can penetrate cover that would defeat nearly all common civi-legal combat/self defense pistol rounds..(7.62x25mm being one exception) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmh4vw56Pn8

..good soft tissue performance.....more like a 5.56x45 than a pistol..

..ammo in excess of 2,000 fps with good BC...very flat shooting...more like a rifle....one of my 'pocket rifles'..

..red dot allows for very fast & accurate target acquisition...day or low light/night..

.. ammo is very lightweight and compact...1/2 the weight (or less) of 9x19
2 boxes (100 rds) will easily fit in the palm of my hand...would not be hard for me to tote thousands of rounds in my gear.

..ammo available in AP, subsonic, ballistic tip, etc....have thousands of rounds readily transportable

..& if I have the time & space...I just happen to have a reloading setup with supplies for 5.7x28mm

5.7x28? You better carry all the ammo you'll ever need because the odds of finding more are slim to none. You won't be able to use it for bartering purposes either.

the last person to worry about resupplying in this thread will definately be LG1.

personally, id take my glock 17. its what i train with the most. only other two options i have at the moment are a 26 and a smith and wesson 19 4" .357mag. the 26 would be my last choice but any of the 3 would get me by as long as the others.

Gen 4 G17.Mostly because I can shoot it well.It has a comp. spring kit,2# V3 race connector and a heavy .25 trigger job.Since it's the end of the world I don't have to worry about the mods possibly causing me grief in court if I shoot someone.Also I have a few 33 round mags to go with it.It will accept light and laser too.

Smith and Wesson 22A. I can shoot it well and fast. There is tons of small game I can take with it and carry vast quantities of ammo while traveling to a good food source. That reminds me, I really want a cast iron Dutch oven.

I don't own a pistol that would be very good against North Korean Zombies who are members in the National Socialist Party like LG1's silenced 5.7 or even a Glock 17, so I would take my trusty Glock 23 and chest rig holding 20 mags. And I would bring all the .40 ammunition that I owned (which would not be enough for a full out Zombie invasion) and help do my part.

Wait a minute, this post is starting to make sense now... is this about OWS?

Glock 17 with its 10 extra mags(11 total). Why????

* Its lightweight and concealable.

* Durable without a doubt.

* High capacity (17 +1)

* Few parts internally and I can repair it myself.

I'd carry my Smith & Wesson 617. It is built like a tank. It holds ten rounds of .22 LR. It is very accurate. It literally could be used as a weapon to knock someone over the head. I have fired many, many rounds through it reliably. I can shoot it double or single action.

If limited to what I have, probably S&W M41 - .22LR - quiet, easy to find ammo, can be lethal if you are close enough for good shot placement.

I would want my .45 but the .22 would be better.

If I could shop, I would get a Ruger Convertible .357/9mm - merely for the fact you can gather and shoot .38spl, .357, and 9mm.

I'd take my 9mm HK P2000 because it's reliable and it holds more rounds than my revolvers do.

I would take my glock 17 with TFO night sights, a spare recoil spring/guide rod assembly, a 9mm boresnake, a wee bottle of Militec lube, a drog leg triple retention holster, lots of spare mag holders, a big expandable dump pouch, and many many many loaded magazines.

I'd bring my H&K P30S 9mm (in DA/SA V3 variation) in an MTAC holster along with plenty of spare mags and ammo.

My previous choice was my trusty Glock 17, but that was before I discovered the Holy Grail of polymer pistols. Behold, the H&K.

This, but in a Glock 19.

This is my duty gun also.
