best value silver/stainless 3" 1911 9MM

I was about to get a Glock 26, but a hammer fired pistol might be a nice change from the Glock trigger. I want a compact, I have my eye on a 9MM Colt defender. thanks for the tips

Best value? Try this bad boy. It's not a 9mm though.

For me it's the Colt Defender.

Hasn't needed any tweaks to run and is a joy to carry.

Closer to the Compacts. I can get most of my little finger on the grip. Can't get any of the little finger on a Glock 26, but all of it on a Glock 19.

My vote goes to the colt defender. Amazing shooter. Lower felt recoil than ny 26, quick follow up shots, scary accurate. Fed everything I gave it.

You need to get some GAP floorplates for your G26. They work like a charm.

Actually, I use (and prefer) Pearce floor plates.

I'd say get a defender. If you shop around for awhile you might be able to find a used one a little bit cheaper.

I went to the store and handled a kimber ultra carry and a pro carry II. I liked the pro carry size better. So now Im also considering the kimber stainless pro carry II. So Im really getting confused. It seems most like the kimbers but I have read some bad reviews also. Im wondering if choosing the 9MM is limiting my options to much. I really would like to keep one caliber. So 2 questions. Would choosing the pro carry II be a mistake? And should I abandon my 9MM preference in the 1911 platform? cast you vote now. thanks

One important factor is your intended purpose.
For personal defense I've gone from 9mm to .45.

For range and plinking, 9mm will work just fine. Springfield Armory makes a nice 9mm 1911.

This is my favorite compact, stainless, 1911 in .45

Might be selling it, too.

Kimber's Pro Carry II comes in 9mm as well as .45

Caliber choice is up to you. I like the 9mm better than the .45 or the .40, but all will do the job just fine, as long as you can hit..... and 9mm ammo is cheaper, so you can get more practice for the same money!

I have one in 9mm and it runs fine. A customer traded it in on a custom build and I had not seen one in 9mm so I took the trade. Definitely a nice little carry gun.
