my new 20sf is off
Hi all first post here cause I just picked up my new 20sf. Inspection date was 10 26 11 so its really "new" . Took it out about an hour after purchase and encountered a small problem. 2 foot right and 2 foot low from point of aim. Tried 4 different types of ammo. 200 gr xtp,155 gr xtp, 180 remington fmj and some 200gr blazer. Still 2 right 2 down was trying to shoot a Washington machine from 20 feet and couldn't even hit it till I aimed clear beside it and above it. Installed crimson trace laser grips and set them with the sights so I could see if trigger jerk was a problem but I'm rock steady. Any suggestions? I went though 150 rounds and poi never changed

Thats a pretty dramatic skew from POA. I would look closely at how the barrel locks up to the slide. Also look for crown damage.

Is your slide lock installed correctly?

Are ANY of you guys experienced shooters? No offense, but it is AMAZINGLY hard to hit a target when you're new to pistols. If you are experienced (more than 1,000 rounds in the last year), then you have a serious problem. If not, learn the fundamentals, and shoot as much as possible. When I first started shooting, I would have a hard time hitting a target at 7 yards, and when I did, it looked like a shotgun hit it. Now, I can keep all hits in the 9 and 10 rings at nearly 20 yards. It just takes practice.
If, on the other hand, you guys are all experienced, and were shooting other guns with great accuracy, you have a problem. First, you should find someone experienced WITH GLOCKS to shoot the gun. Glocks have a different trigger, and they can be tough to learn at first. If the gun is still that inaccurate in experienced hands, it needs to go back to Glock. My first guess would be something wrong with the slide and/or barrel.
Also, look at your rear sight. On one side, it should have a long dash with a shorter dash above it. If it has anything else (like one long dash and two shorts on top, just one dash, or one long with one short below) it has the wrong sights. Also, it should be dead center in the slide. If you are not an experienced shooter, do not mess with the sights. If the rear sight has the long dash with the short dash above it, and is centered, the sights are good. Incorrect sights would not make it that badly off, though. Maybe a few inches, but not FEET.

Your shooting at a washing machine from about 7 steps (20 feet) and your missing it 2 foot to the right and 2 foot low...is that true? I'm not sure the gun can shoot that far off and still cycle the gun????? The barrel is centered in the middle of the slide right?
Or, your doing something extreme when your pulling the trigger.

The worst part is it was army marine and a airforce guy standing in the snow trying to shoot a Washing machine that was running and filled with clothes

It was next to the barn. The one guy bought the washer for 10 dollars and we tested it out and it wouldn't drain so we decided to let the water out the fun way. Got really fun once the saiga 12 came out. U get the three of us together and the iq goes way down

So, a soldier, a marine, and an airman walk up to a Washington machine with a Glock. Who fails the hardest?
Just kidding. Welcome to the 10 Ring.
Glad you got it sorted out. But TWO FEET from bad sights? Usually, the difference between each sight size adjusts POI by 2" at 25 yards. So, to shoot off by 2 FEET, you'd need a rear sight that's 11.7mm tall (stock is 6.9mm). That would shoot 2 feet high at 25 yards.

Strangely it was the marine that failed the hardest with it but give the boy a rifle and hit can hit whatever you point out. Don't know the shop took it for a couple hours and replaced sights and checked it over and now I can hit my Target and get pretty decent grouping

You asked for suggestions, I'm going to go with, either, improperly installed sights, or, improper sights for the G20 all together!
Would also like to add, kindapointless, you mentioned shooting next to a barn, and missing that badly. You weren't shooting at the broadside of the barn, were you? Just sayin!
Just to keep it going for mj9mm.

I want that Santa mobile I would drive that thing to work. No not shooting at the barn, made that mistake when I was about 16. Grandfather went into the barn one day and saw all the holes. Spent next three weeks building him a new one and fixing the dents in his tractors from my 22. I learned to look behind my targets after that. Back to topic I'm guessing they weren't even sights for a glock because guy behind counter said they were wrong right off
