Kimber Ten II Polymer
Just seeing this 1911 Model and wondering opinions on it?? I know that it strays from the 1911 "Purist" Point Of View (being that is Double Stack Polymer). However, is it a good gun? Does it have more slide release malfunctions/idiosyncrasies like this one?

Unless you spend some serious coin double stack 1911s are a poor choice.

I've had 3 of the Kimber Polymer pistols, an original pre II Gov. size Polymer Custom which was flawless, an Ultra Ten II which was shifty and a Poly Pro Stainless, which is a commanderish sized version, still with 14 round capacity.
This one I still have and it too has been a great shooter. I replaced the substandard, good-for-about-3-mags Kimber spring with an Ismi setup from EGW.
If the grip feels right to you, then i think it's a very compelling alternative to Glocks or HK's...

I never fired a double stack 1911, but I doubt most of them function as well as a regular single stack 1911. I've found with firearms, the more you deviate from the original design, the more trouble you could be asking for.

They also sold this gun in 45 ACP. I teetered on the edge of buying one as I could have bought a pair of them in 45 ACP (PRO models) NIB for $600 a piece. Sadly, I did not buy them. The grip was not an issue to me, the fit and appearance is what bothered me, almost like the double stack grip was an after thought.
IMHO, the further you drift from the original design in the 1911, the more of a chance of failure, even if it is an extremely small percentage.
