Remove Glock front sight

I want to remove my Glock front sight and put on a night sight. I believe I have the correct 3/16 hex tool.

I have seen on the web some people say to just punch off the front sight and others say to unscrew it from under the slide. Which method do you recommend.

One other question, is the sight secured with loctite from the factory?

Thanks.

It depends on which generation Glock you have. Look inside the slide. The older ones don't have a screw; they're just crimped in. All you do is grab the sight with pliers & pull it up.

Thanks. I have a Gen 3. Has a hex screw accessible from the underside of the slide.

Your either going to need a thin walled hex driver or modify one from the hardware store. If you don't have one actually made for Glocks ( I.E. Hardware store hex driver) it's going to be to thick to clear the front of the slide.

Thanks. I have the correct hex driver. I was just worried I was going to need a blowtorch or something like that. My new front sights will be here Tuesday. Sounds pretty simple.

I have a Glock 26 I need to replace the front sight on. I think it may be the crimped on type but not sure.

Looking at it from the inside of the slide, it looks like two little holes that may be an Allen wrench screw but it's not.

The two holes is what's throwing me. I'm only recently a Glock fan, releasing me from the Sig/Kimber OCD.

Thanks for any replies.
