Well I did it...I joined the 10 Ring Club Today

I bought myself a 29SF today. Unfortunately, it won't be here for a couple of weeks. Now I can't wait to get my hands on it. I plan on carrying it while hunting in the woods and if I like it well enough, it will become my everyday CCW.

I'm also a big fan of the 357 Sig round and will be picking up conversion barrel as soon as I can

I've used the search function a few times and have read more than I can remember right now and will continue reading about the round. I'm not sure what round to carry while hunting or for personal defense so please share you thoughts

Thanks,
Greg.

Oh, you'll end up carrying it for CCW. I've pretty much neglected my sizable Glock collection since getting my 29SF last May.

FWIW, I carry 175 gr. Winchester Silvertips around town, and 200 gr. Hornady XTPs loaded hot by Swampfox in the woods.

extremetj, to the exciting world of 10mm! Know you have two problems...

You already are looking for ammo choices, The Winchester 175gr SilverTips are great, Speer 165 Gold Dots will work too. I like the Hornady 200XTP's for woods carry and hunting. Handloading your own makes for plenty excitment and variety for your shooting pleasure!

Now on to your second problem...which will be the next 10mm pistol? LOL

Best regards!

Welcome..!...You will love the G29 SF. Lately I too have been running 175 Grain SilverTips. We don't have WOODS here in Los Angeles but we do have gang members in old Chevys roaming around. For that I run some hardcast 200 grainers.

Be well, Bob

I think that would equate to Jungle carry...

LOL! Im in the same boat. I have several Glocks including a G20 and a Smith 1006. Since buying the G29sf, it is my CCW of choice.

The gun showed up today and I couldn't be happier I can't wait to put a few rounds through it and see how it shoots. My son thinks it's going to be pretty snappy compared to his G20 and thinks I should have got a G20 but I think I'm going to like it just fine!

I'll try and post a few pictures tomorrow.

I can't wait to find a 357 Sig barrel for it and start shooting it with that round.

Greg.

Can't wait to hear about your first outing with it!

IME having owned G20s and a G29, the difference in perceived felt recoil will NOT be as others would have you believe. I remember getting my first Glock 10mm...the way lots of people were still talking back then (ok, they do now too) I figured I would be launched from my feet straight backward into the next zipcode. It's just not that bad.

That's not to say you aren't going to notice it. Just that it's not what others, many of whom have never owned or fired a G29, would have you believe. And if you do end up feeling like you want a little better grip on it you can always add a pinky extension to the mag.

Until you start shooting very hot rounds you wont notice the recoil much between the two.

I would never part with my 29. I hunt, ccw, home protection and target shoot. It is one of the most versatile rounds and in its compact form you can't beat its power.

Welcome to the world of 10mm. Now if you don't reload you should consider. Its a great hobby in its self and you can really load rounds that guns were designed to handle.

Congrats on the G29. You've definately come to the right place. These guys are a wealth of knowledge and very helpful. One problem......they make you spend lots of money!
