Noisy buffer springs
What are some factors making some buffer assemblies quieter, smoother than others?

It's the spring,......no idea why some are noisier than others.
I grease the lightly.......quiets them down quite a bit.

Lube! Put some lube on your gun- run it wet and you'll not have a noisy spring!

Some receiver extensions (interior) are not finished as nicely as others, those will make more noise and the spring flexes against the inner surface.

The noise will go away as the rifle breaks in.

Tried some silicone grease, better (less twang) but still noisy compared to my other AR.
Must be the tube interior, even though it feels smooth as far as my finger can reach. Guess I'll have to live with it.

Spring noise always seems louder if you are using earmuff-type ear protection while shooting ARs. Resting the side of the earmuff housing against the stock transmits the noise to the interior of the earmuff cavity much more clearly. Keeping the earmuff off the stock will help; some folks install a thin rubber or neoprene pad to reduce vibration transmission. If you use earplugs instead, spring noise is FAR less noticeable.

Concentrate on your target, not on the BOING.
If you're doing it right you barely even hear the shot.

Must be why our 10 year old 6920s havent made sproing sounds after the first few years.
Either that or I am going deaf.
