Started gathering parts for my comped long slide project and was wondering what guide rod everyone uses? I have been looking for extended ones but haven't found any. Any suggestions or recommendations?
LWD recommends using a guiderod that's compatible with ISMI springs for their Longslides. I used a Wolff setup with my original G20L with no issues, but the same setup wouldn't function with my new G20LS. I now run LWD's guiderod & 22# ISMI spring.
You won't need an extended guiderod, the standard length works great.

As Meathead said, just use the standard, G20 LWD stainless rod. You have to ask for the special plastic washer for use in the long slides. Don't worry about trying something trick, these guide rods will WORK, and that's what matters. Also, use ISMI springs. I use a 20lb, but have 17lb and 22lb as well. A full-length guide rod would be "kindapointless" because the spring would still stop where it's supposed to. You would have about 1.5" of unspringed guide rod poking through the front of the slide.
Okay that makes sense I had figured since everything else was extended that the guide rod would be too. Now I just have to wait for my back ordered slide and barrel

The red arrow in this picture shows where the spring stops. A longer guide rod would just keep going forward, but would be unnecessary, since the spring stops here:
Oh ok that makes sense now that I see pics. From just looking at it on lwd site I thought the spring pocket was extend too so I was expecting some type of extended spring and rod. Thank you for clearing it up
