A little something for my father

I had my wife purchase a RIA 1911A1 FS Tact 45 ACP w/ ambi safety while I was deployed, it came with one 8 rnd mag, I bought him 2 10rnd CMC power mags and 350 rnds. I will be getting him night sights and rubber hogue grips. Today we picked it up and put 300 rnds through it and it ran very nicely I really expected at least one failure to go into battery or something BUT NO!!! NOTHING even my kimber had to be broken in. I'm pretty impressed with it for it's price. I will be buying him a Wilson, Ed Brown or something along those lines when I start contracting. This was just for starters.

A nice pistol and a nice gift. The RIA's are good shooters, especially for the $$$.

We trudge on.

The Filipino guns are like the Brazilian guns of the 1990s: cheap and good.

Thanks for the reply's. I was looking at other 1911 but with the california "safe handgun list" I was limited in choices, but when I talk him into coming over to Texas where I live, Then I can get him whatever he wants.

You sound like a nice kid. Just the sort I've been looking to adopt. BTW, I like Wilson Combat.

I love my RIA. It shoots everything, even my crappy "beginning-to-learn-reloading" reloads. The only thing I don't like is the turd grips they come with.

Yeah, apparently the Filipinos have not yet decided they know more than John Browning, Colt Pt Fa Mfg Co Inc, and the US Army and are making pretty close copies of the guns that just worked.

as much as I prefer American made 1911's I think I'd get An RIA before a kimber(u.s.) or Springfield(brazil)
