I "owned" one.

Jam-o-matic nightmare, even after two trips back to S&W.

It would not extract spent shells reliably, after visiting Walther forums I found this was a common problem on the model, and like mine trips back to the factory were not solving the problem.

I really liked the look and feel of the gun, I've never shot a softer recoiling center-fire pistol, but if it won't work reliably then it's useless.

I traded it off to a guy that thought he could make it work. He couldn't and sold it to a pawn shop.

Hmm Mine has worked well.. Shoot Remington umc ammo... But I also have read the problems. The only prob i had with mine was the safety black cracking.. I have been thinking of selling it though

Yeah I heard about the safety-blocks breaking but never had that trouble with mine.

Just the fail to extract problem. It wasn't really any particular brand of ammo it would do it with any brand. What's odd is sometimes it would work fine for awhile but then for no particular reason it would start jamming up again. No real rhyme or reason to it. It worked fine when I first got it but after about four or five hundred rounds it began to act up and progressively got worse from once or twice every session to not being able to make it through a mag.

The first time I sent it back for repairs they sent it back with a slip saying everything was in spec but they had changed the extractor and a spring, they didn't specify which spring. First time at the range with the first mag it jammed up after the 3rd round and kept doing it. I was pissed. Called them they sent another shipping slip came back with the same note about the extractor and spring. Went to the range and this time it actually worked fine. Next time at the range I had a couple of FTE so I cleaned it up especially well, but there were still FTE problems and everytime I took it out it kept getting worse just like before. I finally gave up on the damn thing.

I would have loved to try another recoil spring in it, but that's another problem. There are no parts available for it either from the factory or aftermarket.

It sucked because I really liked the feel of the gun and it was actually pretty accurate.

The feel is what I bought the gun for it felt awesome. I don't even use the safety and one day shot it and felt something hit my hand and seen the black cracked in half. Called Walther they sent a return label shipped it to them. Took them like 3 to 4 weeks but they fixed it. I think they fix guns in cycles. They told me every time that the guy hasn't got to the 380s yet.

That's what really made it so disappointing is I really liked the gun.

Good feel, easy to shoot, nice accuracy plus I liked having a manual safety and a hammer I could cock or decock. A slide release would have been nice but I could live without it. When I first got it and it was working fine it was one of my favorites.

Then when it started to screw up and they couldn't fix it that was really frustrating. Turn around time wasn't bad for me though, both times it was back to me in 2 weeks almost to the day. Customer service wasn't bad I just wish they would have actually fixed it.

It was a pistol I really wanted to love but instead it turned in to a nightmare.
