Unfortunately, we don't have a BOL...yet. In a few years I plan on getting a small cabin somwhere...MUST be by water (lake, stream, river, etc).

What we do have is tons of trees right in our back yard. Plenty of dead/fallen wood to boot. So as long as we stay on top of sweeping (during a SHTF), I suppose we can burn green.

You got me thinking about a specific BOL now. I guess it couldn't hurt to start looking for property/small house/cabin near water now...

Thanks

Scored a large Nesco American Harvest "Gardenmaster" dehydrator on Craig's list for $25. ($132 on Amazon.) Now to reduce the garden into little shriveled remnants.

For some reason, people seem to buy dehydrators, not use them, and then sell them on C-list at bargain prices. There's always lotsa dehydrators for sale. However, get one that blows air horizontally over the surfaces, if possible. Cheapies won't do that.

Yard sales were great this Saturday (sometimes I go and get skunked for a couple of weeks).

Scored some dirt workin' tools, a small Weber BBQ, a gas stove *and* a gallon of white gas, all for under $18!

Our local Walmart is catching on, bought 3 of these today for $63 each. Not a great price but better than the Wise buckets we bought on line 6 months ago for 110 each shipped.

Storms in the DC/Virginia area finally got me to the equipment store to purchase a chainsaw. Got done with work a bit early and just bit the bullet. Thanks to all the fellows who Rx a Stihl in another thread. Should be good to go now.

Bought a Remington 870 Express 20 ga. shotty w/ 18" and 26" barrels, ANIB, never fired for $325. Tested it it last week with 3" #2 Buckshot with the short barrel, great pattern and reduced recoil. Great little brother to the 870 Express Magnum 12 Ga. (Marine Magnum in black).

Note: do not mix ammonia and chlorine ( bleach) as it combines to make Chloramine gas that will burn your throat and lungs and could be fatal.

Honestly I thought you were joking at first with the "Laundry" cover. An old neighbor of ours used to use this mixture to get rid of groundhogs. Worked like a charm.

In an enclosed/confined area this would be highly lethal.

D.G., you may want to also consider some kevlar chainsaw pants (or chaps, in this case):

It seems they don't want you to know what those cost.

Guess that means I don't want to know.

I purchased a Spyderco Sharpener with the extra fine sticks as well. I disciplined myself to watch a number of videos on youtube about knife sharpening. Then, I sharpened all the knives at home.

I have purchased an axe stone and have watched the videos. Sharpening the axes is the next project.

I also fixed up the bike to start bike riding again.

The most difficult times I have are: 1. reading and understanding instruction manuals (even when using a magnifying glass); 2. locating spare and replacement parts (even going on the internet and searching); 3. following instructions.
