Is learning to shoot a rifle not a prep?

So what have you done this week?

I am working on something I will post probably next Monday.

registered for the first semester of my senior year in college. Thats about as close as i get for prepping right now. Will be an Electrical Engineer in less than a year

Oh, and got new shoes for the BOVs. My usual ferrier broke his hand so it took a bit to find a temporary replacement. Looking to start sourcing the tools to learn this myself in the near future. Got my horse through a couple miles of trails with leg movements only, no steering by hand. now to see how gunshy he is...

Small stuff. Topped off vehicles' gas tanks, bought pond-management items, received a couple of new knives, and stocked more food items as well as some leather working supplies.

Changed out my backup motion solar flood lights on the 4 sides of my house. The old ones had multiple LED's and were starting to go out 1 at a time.

Can't believe the old ones batteries lasted 8 years. The new ones are 10 times as bright with the new LED technology.

Make/model of the new ones?
Talk to me about the mounting options.

There is a place where I think this would go good on one of the offices, but the walk they will mount on is stone. So....?

I bet I am the last one here to finally get some ammo cans. My ammo supply has grown and I need something strong/handy to store it all in. I walk into a pawn shop this morning and they had two metal ammo cans. A .50 cal and a .30 cal. Both were painted yellow over the olive drab?? Weird, but they were cheap and in good shape besides the hideous paint. Picked both of them up, sandblasted them, and now I am enjoying a cold one painting them. It is nice to have a little relaxing prep project that will unclutter my closet!

I bought a case of 10 (or was it 12?) about 5 years back. It was on a site that had the deal for all of an hour before people jumped all over them.

Anyway, by far the cheapest place to get them is a local gun dealer. He sells them for a few bucks a piece...sometimes he just gives them to me. Like new to!

Try looking at small, home based dealers in your area....couldn't hurt to just look.

Well, at least for my guy, he buys up estate collections. Plus people bring him random stuff....he has a few hundred of them stacked up so I just take what I need.

I've got 20-30 already so I'm pretty good for now. But ammo cans have endless uses. I've seen them used as lunch boxes, boat supply storage, hell I've even seem them used as saddlebags on a motorcycle!

Finally picked up the second Kahr CM9 I've been wanting ever since picking up the first one a few weeks ago. I like the silly thing so much that if this second one is as good as the first one, I may retire my G26's in their favor.

Put an Appleseed poster up oat my local gun store and supplied them with tri-fold brochures to keep on the counter (which I will replenish when necessary).

Got a brick of Wolf Match Target to try out in my 10/22

I'm liking that SAR-8! Any chance you got one with nice jimping on it?

I refused to buy any of the SAR-7's because all of them were made without it and Garth said to add it would compramise the integrity of the blade.

That sheath...is it custom made or a general sheath? It looks to be great quality but the squared off bottom makes me think it's not specific to that blade.

Thanks

No jimping on the knife, which is fine with me. I made all three sheaths; the squared-off one could be used for something else if so desired.

Nice knives and leather work tom!
Thanks for the tips and inspiration 08 and emt.

Today I picked up some batteries and organized my two ammo cans. I need at least two more for rimfire and shotgun, but I wouldn't mind about 10. Still working on that.

This prepping mentality/attitude has really helped me relax a little more! I used to go to the store all the time, for food, or whatever else I needed at the moment. Now I buy in advance and in bigger quantities. I never realized how comforting it is to have "extras" and not have to drive to the store all the time. Enjoying the lifestyle
