Factory and handload velocities for short-barrel 9mm's

I have been taking some chronograph data and trying to develop some handloads to get the best velocity for my Walther PPS 3.2" barrel and in some cases from a Beretta 92FS 4.9" barrel for comparison. Here is some data that I have so far. If you have any chronograph data to share, please do so. Also, please show where your load data source is from for hand loads.

So far, Blue Dot seems to be the best velocity powder I have on hand. That's comparing it with Bullseye (good), Unique (better), AA#5 (great for 115gr.) and Longshot (didn't get close to Hodgdon published loads). Anyone have any other powders with good results?

I like the 124gr. max. Blue Dot load, but it makes me wonder a little bit since it's hotter than the Remington factory +P load.

N350

I found Vihtavuori N350 to be great for +P GDHP 115gr (1330fps) and 124gr (1270fps) loads for my Glock 17. Never chronoed them w. Glock 26 but probably will do that soon. Load recipe data to follow when I dig them out.
Edit:
found it on the ammo box: 7.0gr N350 for 115gr/1330fps and 6.6gr for 124gr/1281fps. Primers CCI 500 LP. Don't just copy paste this recipe, start at least 10% lower and work up w. clean barrel and new good brass. On your own risk of course.

3n38

But in the meantime I found my data for 147gr GDHP and XTP pushed by Vihtavuori 3N38, all chronoed w. Glock 17:

147 gr GD HP, 3N38 powder, CCI 500 SP:

6,7 gr

1133
1116
1150
av. 1133 fps

6,9 gr

1158
1134
1150
1129
av. 1143 fps

7,1 gr

1173
1191
1166
1176
av. 1177 fps

147 gr XTP, 3N38 powder, CCI 500 SP:

6,7 gr

1086
1074
1077
1078
av.1079 fps

6.9 gr

1095
1097
1106
1102
av.1100 fps

7.1 gr

1102
1122
1106
1112
av.1111 fps

I am assured they are safe to shoot in stock Glock 26. Muzzle vel. would be approx 50-70 fps less. Just keep your barrels shiny clean and use new good-brand brass.

Wow, Robert. I am not too in tune to 9mm velocity (yet), but those 147gr loads seem pretty darn hot! With some of those loads, you're getting about 150fps more than a factory Gold Dot load. That's a serious 9mm load. I bet a 147gr 9mm bullet at 1150fps would be a great load. That's about 460fpe.

Yeah, pretty hot I like it hot when I shoot.
My 9mm G17 carry load in woods (before bought G20) was 147gr XTP @ 1280fps, loaded w. 7,2 gr Rex Magnum, ignited by CCI 500SP.
Too bad this great powder is not around anymore, it is one mean good fuel for 10mm 165 and 180 grainers too. However I had to experiment w. 3N38 and N350 because german/swiss ammo corp. RUAG bought Rex factory in Hungary a year ago and seems like they use all powder they produce for their own ammo factories.

Warning

My 9mm hot loads (115gr, 124gr, 147gr) I wrote about in this thread were tested in my Glock 17 and I can't guarantee they are safe for use in your weapon, whatever you got. Take my recipes only as an suggestion which powder to use for build your own load.
So, start at least 15% lower, rise up slowly w. 0.2gr steps and observe carefully each spent case for any signs of overpressure.
When I test any new load I wear protection gloves (spectra or kevlar lined), beside protection eyeglasses (I prefer Revision Sawfly).

Robert,
What's the OAL for your loads in 147gr. I've been loading the 147 XTP at 1.1" over a book max load of Tight Group. I haven't chrono'd the load yet but suspect around 930-940 fps out of my S&W M&P.

My bad, I didn't write it down. But due to small space left for bullet when loading that amount of powder I am sure they were 29.4 - 29.6mm long (1.157 - 1.165 inch). I remember they were too long to fit in friend's CZ 75 SP01 chamber because of shorter transition conus at the beginning of CZ's barrel. For his CZ had to low down to 6.0 gr and the longest acceptable COAL was 29.0 mm (1.142 inch). 9mm XTP's have wide nose so bullet seated on rifles before slide lockup.
No problems w. Glock though, it's build to accept almost everything
