Questions For Kahr Owners

I own a PM9 and have had it for 7-8 years....I forget.
Anyway I do know that I have fired some 13K-14K rounds thru it and even though I clean it religously I was told by a friend that I should look into replacing springs and other internal parts.
Does this sound right?
Nothing is broken as far as I know and the gun still fires flawlessly but I would llike to upgrade the parts if it's something you guys think is routine.
Thankx

You have put 13K rounds through a PM9? Nice. You should contact Kahr as they could use that in an advertisement.

As far as what to replace - probably the manf. recommended guild rod spring.

I'm not bragging or trying to act like I'm cool but honestly it's probably more than that...and when I tell you this gun is absolutley flawless I'm not kidding. I NEVER NEVER have jams, stove-pipes or any type of malfunction...it just fires & fires away. This is my daily CCW and I trust it so much there's no questions about it.

It's time to replace the recoil spring because the gun's frame is absorbing more energy than it should. In these very small, lightweight guns, you should notice some change in the recoil if you do change the spring. The PM9, as is the rest of the Kahr line, are pretty well made and should last a lifetime. There are reports of this model going many tens of thousands of rounds, one gentleman on KahrTalk reports over 30,000. Good guns.

Treat your gun to a new spring, it's earned one.

Wow that's quite impressive, I hope mine will last that long lol.

As for the recoil spring, it wouldn't hurt to replace it with an OEM one. You can always call Kahr and ask.

I must have 7 - 8k through my PM9. It's my EDC and I use it in BUG matches plus weekly practice for years so 7 - 8k sounds about right.

I guess I'm in the 'If it aint broke' camp too.

But then a recoil spring is not expensive..... Why did I read this thread.

Kahr recommends the following to be replaced during a tune-up:

-recoil spring
-extractor
-guide rod assembly
-trigger bar spring
-striker spring
-slide stop spring

However, they do not state WHEN it should be done.

Don't they sell all of these in a tune up kit?

I am pretty sure thug23 only has to turn around to contact someone (else) at Kahr.

Kahr recommends at about 1200 rounds replace recoil spring for SD.
Just target/range who cares? Shoot till it stops working right.

I feel pretty sure that recoil spring assemblies should be replaced every 5000 rounds. They start to weaken, and frame battering will begin to take place.

I believe this applies to all autos.
