ammo on a tumbler

I might sound stupid, but please let me ask. Can I put a live ammo on a vibrators-tumblers? Will I harm myself by doing so?

Bought a bunch of that German DAG 7.62x51 that was nasty looking.
Tumbled 500rds of it over a couple days looks alot better & shoots just fine.

Not match ammo by any means but works well in my SA M1A.

Have not tried doing it yet, but I guess its safe. Primers as I understand it, ignited by pressure and not by heat. And the gunpowder explodes from the spark of the primer. Guys correct me if I'm wrong.
