I have found the reason why I sometimes have thumb pain after shooting my Glocks - they don't fit my hand like my CZs. I am trying to decide between an SP01 or a Browning Hi Power. I have 15 round magazines that will work in the CZ(a NJ thing), but my first gun was a Hi Power and I would like to replace it. Thoughts?

The CZ is a great pistol, but the BHP is a true classic.

Its also my favorite 9mm.

I owned both pistols. Both are good, but IMO CZ is better design. Personal preference mostly. If You are going to go with BHP prepare yourself to spend more at the counter and even more to make it shoot like CZ. Ergonomics are very nice on both of those pistols.

CZ is fantastic - but compared to an awesome Browning? Seriously - no contest:

Mess with a BHP before you buy. The safety is small, flat, and not as easy to click off as a CZ safety. And I find CZ's much more comfortable in my hand - I had to place my trigger finger awkwardly on my BHP. (I have fairly long fingers, so maybe BHP's fit others better.

BHP all the way, the slide inside the frame CZ design is hard to grasp with sweaty hands, the BHP is a classic.............

Always wanted a BHP and am so glad to finally have picked one up for a good deal($500 OTD), of course my wife decided she liked it more and it now sits in her night stand.

I like the SP01 better. It holds more ammo 18+1, has better ergonomics, is double and single action, and comes standard with night sights.

The magazine disconnect on the BHP is a bummer. It can be disabled but I like my guns able to fire without a magazine out of the box.

I do love the High Power, but I love my SP01 way more!

Picked this up today from a member on a local board.
It's got a Ghost Inc CZ Customs trigger job by Angus Hobdell, over travel adjustment trigger, Meprolight night sights, VZ G-10 black desert sand grips, and a few other extras. Trigger pull in DAO and SA are ridiculously smooth and light. Feels amazing in your hand.

You must have one of the old BHPs with the tiny safety.

I bought an Israeli surplus BHP for $385, put Hogue grips on it. I like it so much I sold my CZ.

Three things to dislike about stock BHPs:
1. Triggering - you have to guess when the trigger resets, even after eliminating that dang mag safety.
2. Iron sights are not so easy to acquire quickly.
3. Safety is not so large.
Some people are more sensitive to hammer bite than others.

Things not to like about CZ75s in general:
1. Not much slide real estate for racking.
2. A tad heavy for what they do.

That said, I feel that the CZ75 is a more modern platform that has been amenable to customization in lots of directions. Either would make an excellent gun that will save your hide with extreme prejudice if required.

That said, I have never owned a BHP and still own two of the three CZ75s that I have bought. A P07 Duty replaced my G19, and a SP01 Phantom replaced my G17 for EDC purpose, respectively.

I think you nailed it. I have my 3rd CZ on the way, a CZ 75B Single Action, and since I won't be able to benefit from the SP01's 18 round mags until I move to Texas next year, I think I'll go with the Hi Power. Thanks to everyone for the great replies.

Since I am in NJ(with 10 round mags for full size 9mm Glocks), the first ones to go might be the 17C, 17L and 34. I think I will be keeping the 19 and 24.

I've got a Glock 19, and a CZ SP01. I've thought of selling the CZ because I rarely shoot either one, they both shoot about the same in my hands, Glocks have more avalible for them, and I could get more $$$ for the CZ.

Check on gunbroker. A seller has used Belgium BHP for around $400-$450. I would go for a BHP or CZ75.
