BVAC velocity downgraded?

It looks like BVAC has dropped their stated velocity.
They used to list their 180gr fmj and jhp at 1200 fps.
Now the 180gr fmj is listed at 980 fps and the 180gr jhp is listed at 1000 fps.

Were they always around 1000 fps (and just liars regarding their stated velocity), or did they change the loading to a slower one?

Also, does anyone know if BVAC and HSM are the same outfit under different names?

One missing component in stating velocity is the barrel length used. 6" barrel can bump it up a bit from the 4.58" barrel. All assumptions, no standardization.

BVAC's 10mm ammo has always been that velocity, they finally decided to get honest, and I applaud them! Itd be nice of some other companies (doubletap) would make that dame decision..

I chronoed some 180gr BVAC a few weeks ago out of a 6" barrel and it averaged just above 1150fps

I called BVAC back in oct. about the velocity difference and they said they had made some changes. They listed it at 1080fps on the spec sheet instead of the 1200fps back then. I e-mailed the VP of sales and was told if I wanted the full 1200 I could request it thru the outlet store. It would be the same price . I ordered 2 boxes of 500 rounds 180gr. FMJ. It took a few weeks but it chronod at HV 1213 ,LV 1176 ,AV 1196 , ES 37 ,SD 12 My old BVAC 180gr. FMJ HV 1096 , LV 1044 ,AV 1073 , ES 52 , SD 14. Not sure why they changed the spec again but I couldn't be happier with there ammo.I asked for 1200 and I got it. The price was better than CTD. $170 +3%+shipping for 500 rounds(new) I have shot 8 or 9000 rounds of it with 1 FT Fire ,good range ammo good brass good price. FYI a friend had a box of HMS and it looked like the new BVAC ,velocity was about 30 fps lower than my old BVAC

Keep your eye on the BVAC website in the upcoming few weeks.
A little birdie told me a few things are in the pipeline for 10mm
