P220 SRT question

I just recently installed an SRT on my P220 (an amazing difference). I know that the Sigs that came with the SRT have to be field stripped differently. Now that my P220 has the SRT, it still strips down the same way as it did before the SRT install. Why is that? What's the difference with a P220 with an SRT from the factory, and the one I now have in my hand? Just curious....

I never heard that about the SRT. Is that supposedly just for the P220 or all SRT Sigs? I don't recall anything weird with field stripping my 229.

I bought factory SRT kits for both my P239 and P220.
Did notice the additional instructions on using the hammer drop to release the
slide during field strip, and didn't need to do it (on my new P239).
My understanding is the kits are exactly what the factory uses.
I personally couldn't tell the difference with the trigger live firing my P239???

As for my P220?
1) It has a dreamy factory trigger anyway.
2) The P239 doesn't seem improved to me with the SRT.
3) It costs me $60 to have a gunsmith install the SRT.
4) My P220 has nickel controls and the SRT has a non nickel slide release.
So I'm not even going to have it installed.

That was my understanding as well. I did the install myself. Sig says to use the hammer drop to release the slide with the SRT models. Understood. But now that my 220 has the SRT, I don't need to use the hammer drop to release the slide....it breaks down just like I did before the SRT install.

Don't know why...I would think I would have to strip it the way I would with one that came from the factory with the SRT (using the hammer drop). Not that it really matters, just curious since the kits are said to be the same the factory uses. At first I thought I did the install wrong when it stripped down the way it did before the modification.

I cracked and had a trigger job and SRT installed on my P220
It still breaks down just like it used to.
Now my P220/45 has a 8.5 lbs DA.
And my P239/357 7.0 DA.

I'm happy with the results.
