Rock River Arms Polymer 1911

After a four-year hiatus from the handgun manufacturing business, Rock River Arms is back with a 5-inch polymer 1911. The gun features a polymer main spring housing, steel billet frame insert, steel billet slide, rubber overmolded pistol grips, beavertail grip safety, commander hammer, 4.5 pound trigger pull, RRA dovetail front and rear sight, parkerized finish and weighs 2.04 pounds. Ballpark price on this gun is around $800.

In my opinion, Polymer and 1911 are two things that just don't mix.

Looks fine to me. If the polymer actually makes it light enough to be a real carry gun, I'd go for one in commander size (or just the frame to build one).

This is a rather odd way for Rock River Arms to re-enter the 1911 business.

I get a 404 for the Guns America page.

I haven"t been to RRA s website in a while.

What a busy, confusing mess. I couldn't find a polymer 1911 on it, and couldn't stand looking any longer.

I'd take a bobtail commander.

Not bad but I'd rather use a lightweight alloy.

If RRA can maintaine the quality of their prior 1911s' with this polymer 1911 then I'll get one. Especially at around $800.

A Glock 21 or 36 is ok, but not a polymer 1911? I'll take one.

If you go to the GA homepage from the 404 notice, the Plastic RRA is right there.

Considering the appearance and price of the old line of RRA pistols, the looks and price of THIS ONE have me thinking about Offshore Procurement. Kind of like an STI Spartan.

I like the idea that it gives a quality 1911 at an affordable price.

If you want all the benefits of a 1911 in a polymer gun why not just get an Hk45?
