A new accomplishment!
I did it! I actually did a chamber check without having fcs on my 1911! I feel like I've mastered the platform now, and can move on to more challenging handguns.

Yeah, it can also be done with an overhand grab of the RCS. To add security, once done, you can make a fist and bump the slide to make sure it's back in battery.

"Chamber check"?
Who else handles your weapon? Is there an ammo fairy that comes around and unloads your pistol while you are not looking?
If so I'd find 'em. And shoot 'em.

Never know, I've seen people right here on this forum who seem to think so...

I have no idea what this smilie means. Also, I don't like FCS. This post was approved by Glock2740.

I press check my 1911 by pushing back on the recoil spring plug.

Does your recoil spring plug have checkering or serrations? If not, you have amazing skills.

FCS are the devils work. I rather have gold accented small parts and pearl grips than FCS
Anybody needing FCS to work the slide on a 1911 need to do some exercise for their wrist and hand strength, I know one that works and is very pleasurable if anyone needs one......

If he's got the skills to chamber check by pushing an un-serrated recoil spring plug, he;s a master with the 1911, and can do anything. I have a hard time believing he can..... it could be just another internet boast.

Now I want to get a smooth plug and try it, can't be that hard
