question on storing beans and rice

I was at costco and noticed the big 25 lbs of rice and beans i tought some show i saw the preppers stored them in 2 liter pop bottles i thought this was great just pour out what you need. Anybody do this or know if that works ?

I wouldn't advise that, though others might think differently. The primary concerns I have are vacuum sealing the bottles to remove ambient moisture, as well as the clear plastic allowing light into the food within.

sorry i should have said there were useing the green colored plastic bottles like canada dry not sure that makes a differance.
