Eh, who cares what goes on in Not-America...
I kid. I know nothing about the event that is triggering this ban but when will law makers realize that the only ones who follow the laws are those who won't shoot without a legal reason?

the philipines is the one country where a citizen can get a ccw permit almost as easily as some states in America. even non citizens can qualify for a ccw permit.
the philipines is about the one country outside of America where an American can go, live relatively free, money goes further, and can get a ccw.

Who's John Farnam? The Phil. is the only country where you can own select fire rifles. Hows that? And you can own as many as you want as long as you can afford the fees.

Actually foreigners cannot legally own a firearms in phils. Filipinos can own firearms and get ccw. Currently the govt. is not giving out permits to own centerfire rifles but other firearms are allowed. No constitutional right to own firearms. Current ownership is based on an old presidential declaration

Sorry mymini but even in Texas you can own selective fire weapons and in Switzerland you even are issued them to take home as a Swiss citizen and member of the militia.
Farnam? Google him and find out. He has many students in the Philippines and knows what goes on there.
And yes, you have no rights to own guns over there. They can take them up any time.

Many parts of the Philippines are like a wild west border town. If you know how to act and what to watch out for you will probably be OK. It can be a very rough place though and it doesn't take much to get in trouble.
There are some great people there and some that are not so great. Like anywhere else there are localities that should be avoided.
