Going to pick an M&P 45
I've been waiting for WEEKS now to go pick up my M&P as they were backordered.
Can anyone give me any feedback on this gun?
I currently own an M&P9 and 9c, this will be my first .45
I've owned a 1911 before from Springfield (loaded) but sold it before I ever shot it.
This will be my first .45, can anyone reccomend any carry ammo for me to purchase? I was thinking Winchester Ranger - T. I carry Gold Dot's in all my other guns.
I'll throw a pic up when I bring it home

I was considering an M&P45 to go with my other M&Ps (40 full size & compact and a 9c)
I really like my M&Ps but been looking at other 45 ACPs.
I did discover that S&W now sells a 14 round mag for the M&P45 - on sale - in stock at Midway right now -

The M&P45 is a phenomenal weapon. I traded for mine a few months ago because I really liked my M&P9. Even though I wasn't actually needing a new .45, the way the M&Ps fit really got me burning for one. I cannot say enough good things about this pistol; it is the first gun that caused me to put down my Glock 21 and that says a lot. Several hundred rounds through it, both in practice and in IDPA, and I find myself loving the gun more and more.
Congrats and be sure to post some pics of your new piece!

I like my M&P45C. Soft shooter, reliable, and accurate.

I like all the M&Ps. It's especially good in .45.
FYI, for those of you with the 45c, X-Grip has finally come out with the adapter it seems (or will soon).

Found an early green frame/black slide M&P45 a couple years ago. Now defunct dealer had two of them just in. So one had to come home. No issue gun, shoots fine, reliable, and looks great. Has the firing safety on the left side. On the rare occasion when I carry it for patrol someone usually asks "bought a new gun"? The green catches their eye-color rarity around these parts.

I have one in .45.
I'd take it over a Glock 21.

I love my full size M&P .45. It feels great in my hand, is easy to shoot and has been perfectly reliable so far through about 2000 rounds.

I have the FS M&P in .45. Great gun. I put the APEX Duty / Carry Kit into it and I liked it even more.... Never had any issues other than the cost of .45 even reloading for it compared to 9mm. I just use the Win PDX .45s for defense ammo though I usually don't carry it vs. other smaller options but it does get time in the lock box in the master bedroom JIC.
I also have the M&P 9mm Compact and .40 FS. All good guns. Might add a 9mm Long Slide someday.

I have the 45C. It's a winner. Other than magazine availability at the time I purchased it, I have no complaints.
I use 230 gr Gold Dots in my .45s.

I have wondered about the 45C since handling one a while back. Before that I thought the Glock 30 or 36 would be my next carry gun, but after handling it I can easily see getting one of the 45C models. They feel really nice in the hand.
I can't believe there are those that are dropping the G21 and 30 for the M&P 45acp's. I have never shot a Glock 45acp, but read a lot about them and especially the 30 seems to get LOTS of praise. Many have said the 21 and 30 are more accurate than most of their 1911's and Ayoob said the 30 was one of the most accurate pistols he had. For the M&P to bump off the 21 or 30 is saying something.
Are they more accurate than the Glocks? I can see where they were more comfortable in the hand and to carry. I guess I need to try and find one to rent and see how it is compared to a Glock.
LORD there are too many nice guns and my wallet isn't fat enough. It's depressing.
Let us know how you like yours.

I like mine. Federal HST is my choice in .45.

I have the full size 4.5 inch with thumb safeties and it is the best polymer striker fired .45 I have ever shot. None of my Glock .45 ACP or GAP ever came as close to shooting as well as the M&P has for me. The fact that they are hard to find is a clue to how good they are.

Stock trigger sucks! Almost as easy as a Glock to do a trigger job on. Order a Apex hard sear from Top Gun, polish everything you would on a Glock trigger job including the sear that comes in. To eliminate the mag safety in the sear housing just remove safety and replace slack with a small spring. I bought a variety pack of small springs from Home Depot and their are a couple in there that fit perfect with a couple coils snipped off with a pair of wire cutters.
