Metal frame full size 45 ACP - excluding 1911.
I have been looking for a home defence 45 ACP - I will not CC this gun - so big - heavy - is not a problem.
I saw a picture of a CZ97 BD 45 - and realized - I have only been looking at plastic guns -
What metal 45 ACPs should I be looking at?
Only limits are -
It is still being manufactured - so it will be available NIB
High capacity - at least 10+1
Like to stay under $1,500 -
I will use the CZ97 BD 45 as a starting point - only nit I can pick is - a gun this big should hold 15 +1 rounds -
What guns am I missing?

Why no 21? Fits all your criteria besides metal frame

I have a cz 97, it is a tank, you can rely on it 100%, then pound tent stakes after your are finished shooting. incredible handgun, but it is big. put one in your hands before purchase. good luck.

The CZ97 is a good choice me thinks!
Or an EAA Hunter in .45 ACP... nice long sight radius!

I know it only has an eight round magazine. But, take a look at a Sig 220.

I have looked at every poly gun 10x - I may end up with a G21 - M&P - FNP-45 - but want to consider all my options.

My thoughts exactly. My P220 sits on my nightstand every night for HD.

The CZ 97 is on of the best shooting firearms I have ever shot! Great ergo's and amazing accuracy. And it's a damn fine looking piece.

Shop around and you should be able to find a Ruger P90 in the $325-$375 range. With the new mags they're 8+1 and built like a tank. Other then that if funds allow the Sig P220 is probably one of the best handguns on the planet but like I said, they're not cheap.

Thanks for the replies -
I started out looking for a full size 1911 - my plan was buy buy a couple 10 round magazines from Tripp - and use it with these mags as my HD - bump in the night pistol.
Then I went plastic - looking at every thing under the sun -
After all that I still have not found the perfect gun. (I know it doesn't exist)
My head says - 10 rounds is enough for most HD situations -
I do have an M&P40 with 15 rounds and a G19 with 33 if I really need greater capacity -
Seems strange the metal frame guns have such limited capacity (for their size) I can only guess - when they were designed 8-10 rounds was HIGH capacity VS a revolver.
The CZ 97 B - or 97BD does look sweet - I found it sort of cool - most of the time gun specs list the weight in ounces -29.3 or 26.9 - CZ just says 2.5 pounds.
My assumption is - a gun this heavy would soak up the recoil.
I did a few searches - can't find a single CZ 97 in stock -
Sometimes good things are worth waiting for

Sounds like you've been on "The Quest" same as I've been for most of my life,LOL. See my sig line to find out what I've finally settled on after over 30 years of looking for the "perfect" handguns.

hi-cap and .45 are not used in the same sentence.
I have owned a glock 21 sf and i liked it but traded it(yes plastic) 13+1
I do own a Sig 220 and i love it(all metal)problem is it's only holds 8+1
I do own a S&W 4506-1 and i love it (all metal)same problem 8+1
All three of the guns i have mentioned are beautiful and flawless but all have something you must look past or you may be out of the .45 range.

97B was my second pistol. Outstanding gun, it's not as big as it looks, just a little long front to back.
Other than that, I'd be looking hard at the FNP/FNX if I was inclined to get a poly framed gun.

CZ
EAA Witness
Para (their P14 line of double-stack 1911s hold 14+1)
I believe the Para P14 is the highest capacity steel/alloy framed 45acp handgun (excluding things such as an AR pistol in 45acp using 30 round mags or a handgun using uber high capacity aftermarket mags).

FNP45 is at the top of my poly list - Buds has the all black model with night sights $641 -
I need to do a little more research - the CZ97B & 97BD I like the night sights on a gun when I buy it - I always end up putting them on anyway - so might as well get it that way from the start.
I do not ever recall seeing a CZ in 45 ACP at a gun show - but I was not really looking.

CZ or Para Ord. Both are good guns.
Personally, I would give up a couple rounds to get a better gun. I would get a S&W 4506 or Sig 220 ST.
