Moving back to Virginia...
I'm getting out of the Army on the 20th of March and will be moving back to Virginia. Is their any new laws regarding CCW that I need to be aware of? I still have my CHP.
Thanks...

You can conceal in a place that serves alcohol now.

That's great. I always thought I should be able to carry when going out to eat. I don't drink beer often, but when I do I prefer Dos Equis... I mean I prefer to do it at home. lol
Thanks everyone.

You can open carry in restaurants and also consume. Laws barring intoxication still apply. Go figure!

Wait, so we can open carry and consume, but not concealed carry and consume?

True. However, you can imbibe if you are openly carrying, though this is frowned upon by those of us in the carrying community.

Correct, but please don't do this.
I see you live in Gainesville. We are close since I live in the same general area. Should do a lunch sometime.

Glove box carry is now legal without a concealed carry permit.

I wasn't saying to drink while open carrying, just telling what the law is. Before c/c was legal a few years ago in restaurants the served alcohol, you could always do the "Virginia Tuck". Tuck your shirt in your pant to expose your pistol and then you were legal.

Yeah, I never liked doing that because I conceal carry so that people don't know that I have a handgun... Oh well. I'm glad the law changed.

Alcoy, it was sometimes difficult to know before our new law almost 2 years ago, which restaurant served & which ones didn't. I don't like to open carry either, so you could do the VA tuck or take your pistol back to your car when you found out.
Where do you live in Roanoke. PM me if you like.
