Pulled the ATI apart.
I'd almost forgot how simple these things were to take apart. I wanted to pull it apart so I could take some of the sharp edges off of the safety and polish the sides of the trigger where it rides in the frame. I'm surprised at the fit and finish of the internal parts, quite good for a "budget" 1911a1. Sears and disconnecter looked nice, grip safety was fit very well. Over all this is a well built gun. Need to get some gun black to touch up where I sanded off the sharp edges from the safety and there was a couple sharp edges on the main spring housing that I removed but over all not much else to do. Maybe put a bevel on the ejection port so it won't dent up brass so much but I don't think I'll lower it even though I've done that mod before. Want to keep this gun as simple as possible without a lot of extras on it. Besides, it has all the extras I'd really want, great Novak knock off sights(front sight is even dovetailed, go figure), beaver tail grip safety, Commander hammer, flat main spring housing, long trigger(even if it's not one with holes in it,LOL) so basically I'll put my Double Daimond grips on it when they get here from CDNN and touch up where I've done a bit of polishing and call it a day. Not much else to do to a gun that's IMHO is just about as perfect as I'd want.

I think SAM, who builds ATI, make the best 1911s in the Philippines.

Except for the cast frame (but then that's why it's cheap), the ATI is damn good.
I hope that ATI would import some nickel plated models in .38 Super.

OOOHHH, with a set of Pearl Grips you'd have one sweet "Pimp Gun."
Really though, John M. Browning was truly a Genius, there's so few parts in this gun that's it's a wonder that it can even shoot. You don't see that elegant simplicity much anymore in a firearm(or anything else for that matter). Reminds me of my carb'ed 350 V8 in my '96 S-10, Simple and POWERFUL, just the way I like it.

Agreed. Dang edges on mine were sharp so I had to stone them. It's one of the best "value" 1911s ($400-$450) IMO at this time. Fit on mine (and all those I've held) was better than an SA Loaded and MilSpec I owned. Mine has a casting defect inside the frame that does not effect function. Time will tell on mine how it wears in/out and the quality of the metal.
