Michigan CPL Question

Can a Mich. CPL holder, carry conceled in a bank ?

Banks are not listed on the card as prohibited.
But MSP #86 said CPL holders must only open carry.

I am so confused.

Provided the premises is not posted, with a CPL the pistol-free zones do not apply. Only the premises listed in MCL 28.425o restrict where you can carry concealed.

You should be good to go.

By the way, I did have a few classes over the years, and none said to uncover in prohibitived areas.

You can concealed carry in a bank with a permit.

Update 86 refers to where people can open carry, where open carry is prohibited, and that people with a CPL are exempt from the open carry restrictions.

The concealed carry statute only covers where you can/cannot carry concealed, it doesn't cover where you can/cannot carry open.

where you MUSt open carry are the places in the CPL law where concealed carry is forbidden..

So in the case of places you're prohibited from concealed carrying, you cannot concealed carry, and where such a place is also listed as a place you can't possess a pistol, the avg citizen could NOT open carry.

Update 86 points out to police that people with a CPL can in fact open carry in places where open carry is prohibited for normal folks, banks, for example, not that they MUST carry open.

Yes you may carry concealed or openly in a bank. Someone that does not have a CPL cannot carry at all in a bank. Many people seem to confuse 750.234d that a CPL must OC there because many of the places on that list are also on 28.425o.

I have never had reason to go to a First Third Bank but I hear they are posted "no carry zones".
