1911 vs CZ75

My new buy was going to be a CM9 for a work BUG. The I went through some thinking of situations they could have had a different outcome and the data is very very sparse. The end decision I made to was skip adding another to my equipment and get better with what I have. Which leads to the next comporo

My current collection of firearms consists of my previous duty Gen 3 G22, my current issued Gen 4G22, and my off duty gun a SIg P239-40. I want something different. They are all great guns but I just don't get the Glock trigger. It just doesn't work well with me. I shoot it well enough to quality at the top of the charts. As a combat pistol it's perfect. This is going to be a range gun. Somewhere where accuracy is more the end game. I know Glocks can/are very very accurate, I just can't with them. I know it's me and not the gun. I'm not knocking the gun at all. But for more precision shooting my shooting style is going to have to a different trigger.

In the switch I going to add 9mm to my arsenal. The two firearms I have narrowed it down to is CZ 75b SAO and the 1911 STI Spartan. Both seem to be great guns and I must say I am attracted to it since I have never owned a 1911. the other side of coin is it seems CZ's are for those who don't want a 1911. They are both great guns.

This is going to be range only gun. No carry all. Maybe some competitions down the line.

So what's everyone think?

I prefer a good 1911, but the CZ 75 is an outstanding pistol. I'd probably take it over any 1911 in its price range.

No contest, the CZ. Having owned 3 9mm 1911s I've become bitter towards them. That being said, I'm still quite fond of the 1911 in .45, .40, and .38 super.

I have a CZ75B and have shot 1911s all my life, own a .45, not 9mm. I would say get the CZ75 over the Spartan. I just can't get behind the Spartan. I was thinking about buying one a couple of weeks ago, but it really doesn't off much more than RIA tactical, yes I know it has STI parts, but that's about it.

The CZ has been great, I have had to the range a few times since I got, 0 FTFs and FTEs. I really like it, great well made pistol, can't beat the price either.

Case closed, if BAC says get the CZ over a 1911, that should be the end of it.

Haven't shot a spartan, but you cant beat a cz75 for a 9mm range gun(unless you consider the gun that it was based off of, the p210, but thats 2 grand). The fact that its 500 bucks makes it even better.

I think bac makes a good statement here. I regard him as a very solid authority on handguns.

I shoot both the 1911's and CZ's and enjoy both. The CZ is extremely reliable, accurate and fun to shoot. I think it is one of the best 9mm available on the market. With that being, there is nothing better than a nice 1911. Check out bac's 1911 Buyer's Guide.

For a Range gun I'd go with the 1911 every time, for me it's the trigger on a 1911 that makes it so accurate. I'd prefer the 1911 in .45 cal but a 9mm 1911 is a very soft shooting Pistol.

That's what I am going for. Right now range time isn't much fun. I don't enjoy shooting glocks but that's the hand I dealt. It's training, not fun. Now the AR is training and just plain fun. I want a pistol that is actually fun to shoot. A soft 9mm round paired with a heavy ass frame along with a nice SAO trigger sounds like a lot of fun to me. The CZ was the original choice but I was intrigued at owning a 1911 and the Spartan fit that bill. hhhmmm

Both world class platforms IMO. Really can not go wrong either way really. I vote 1911 but would be very happy with a CZ as well.

My first centerfire pistol was a CZ-75.
My first "nice" pistol was a 1911.

The CZ now has over 100K through it, and two twins.
The 1911 has maybe 1K through it, I haven't shot it in 10 yrs.

The CZ will need a triggerjob and sights, the 1911 will come already setup.

9x19mm in a 1911a1 is just wrong IMHO, that gun should be in 45acp or at the very least 38 Super. If you want to go 9x19mm then go CZ or better yet get a Beretta 92FS. Lots of surplus mags available on the cheap, tons of parts since the M9 is our current Military Side Arm and very smooth action. Not saying anything bad about CZ but If I want a 9mm then it's a 92FS. Better yet though, I'd really think about a 1911a1 in 45acp.

I own both, Here's my take on it .
If your going 9mm get one of the CZ 75 series models. They really are great pistols. Here's a good video that says it all.

If your thinking 1911 then go 45 caliber. It's just the right thing to do, and the way things were meant to be. John Moses Browning says so, and he is God when it comes to the 1911. Nuff said.

Comparing 9mm carry 1911s and CZ75s I would take the CZ75 route.
For competition, there are more 1911 options than CZ75 ones, in all calibers.

I shoot competitively with both platforms and they are both really good. It's down to personal taste.

Disclosure: my EDC is a CZ75 Phantom.

My CZ 75 SA trigger may not quite match the best 1911's, but it's certainly at least as good as run-of-the-mill 1911 pulls, and the gun has been totally reliable through thousands of rounds, which may not happen with a 9mm 1911.

I like 1911's a lot! But I love my CZ! My CZ Customs 85 Combat is hands down the best pistol my hands have ever touched! CZ's aren't the best kept pistol secret anymore. They use to be everywhere, now they are a lot tougher to find than they use to be! Go with the CZ!

I first learned about the CZ after I bought a Baby Eagle II, a CZ copy. I like the Baby Eagle so much that I want to get a CZ 9mm also. I'd get the CZ9mm because of price and feel.
