WTF????? With all of the things this woman has going against her, the court essentially turned her loose. WTF????

What would you have liked the court to do? It was a misdemeanor charge that got pled out, happens every day. The fact that she is under federal indictment doesn't mean a damn thing. Except to the Feds.

She submitted the falsified application for the concealed carry license November 10, 2011.
The pot operation was discovered December 15, 2011.
She turned herself in on the drug trafficking warrant December 20.
- She denied charges of
- trafficking marijuana,
- violation of a drug free school zone,
- possession of a firearm,
- possession of ammunition,
- possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and
- possession of a high capacity feeding device.
During sentencing on the falsification charge, the judge said she believed the woman's efforts to obtain the gun permit in Portsmouth were connected to her alleged drug activity.
TBO, this woman was caught due to the outstanding warrant. Do you believe there may be other persons engaged in illegal activities legally carrying on a concealed carry permit or license? Is this a concern to law enforcement, that the possibility exists that the man or woman carrying on the "Good Guy Card" really isn't that "Good"?

Kind of like on the internet forums - People continually flip someone off who they know is obligated to not break the rules in response. Yeah, usually that type of stupidity eventually yields the rewards that are earned.

Probably just out of habit. Someone in the court probably misheard, and thought it was just a voter registration/welfare/disability application. Perfectly understandable.

6 months and $2,000 is pretty good for a misdemeanor. For unsworn falsification I'd expect more like a $100 fine and court costs. She has more serious federal charges pending, so the state is not going to invest a lot in prosecuting her for a misdemeanor - it makes little difference that the sentence was suspended - all that means is the feds are paying the bill for her time in jail, rather than the county. Any state court would do the same or less.

I am sure this is not the first time a person has ever lied on an application of any type and it will not be the last time. I would think some people are caught right away and others are not caught until that magic light happens to shine on them. Unfortunately there will always be liars and cheaters.

I'd imagine it's because TBO constantly posts stories about permit holders who are idiots or are committing a crime, yet the second a thread starts about an idiot cop, everyone get's all butt-hurt, infractions start flying, and then thread is locked and deleted into the great abyss. People, are people.
Saints and Sinner's walk among us, with nothing to tell us the difference on the surface.
I am willing to relay, in general terms, what was an official intelligence release in my area.
A couple individuals with permits to carry were affiliated with a known criminal organization (think "gang"), and appeared to be acting as armed escorts for the leadership.
They did not have any disqualifying convictions, so until/unless they do, they are out and about "out there".
It would appear part of why they were recruited/received the position they did was lack of disqualifying convictions for guns/permits.
Most of the folks out and about on a daily basis are good people, whether they have a carry permit or not.
The wolves are out there, and if not vigilant/cautious, can inflict harm/death in a moment.
Hope this helps in any small way.

No, it takes much longer than a second, infractions do not fly by themselves without a reason (like the guns we carry do not fire themselves), being butt-hurt is a personal problem, threads are not locked because of butt-hurt-itis, and there is no delete-abyss.
