Walmart and handgun sales...?

I have a few questions.

Does Walmart sell handguns?

If YES: Where? What kind? Does anybody know how many they sell annually?

If NO: When did they stop?

Over the counter? By special order order? Etc.

My belief is that they do not sell handguns and have not for years...although exceptions may exist in Alaska or the nearly unpopulated areas of Western states. I ask because I am in a pretty good online debate with an individual I know personally who is telling me Walmart does in fact sell handguns and is using that as part of his position.

I've been to a lot of Wal-Marts in MO and KS, and not one of them I've been to had any handguns for sale.

Alright. That's what I thought. As for the rest of the argument I was involved in (on facebook) he is being a typical liberal and running away now that I have questioned his statements and asked for some kind of reference/cite/explanation.

Should be interesting the next time I see him at work!

Last handguns in Wal-Mart that I remember were in the early to mids 90s (93-94 or so) in Texas. Long guns are making their way back into a number of stores currently.

I heard from a source inside Wal Mart management that they are "SERISOULY" considering entry into the handgun market . There is just too much money to be made by blowing it off due to a few libs whining. They already whine about Wally World.

VERY early 90's they had a Beretta 92 in the store---that was the last and only handgun I ever saw in Walmart.

In the 80's I bought a lot of handguns from a Wal Mart in Arkansas. My local store had a very good clerk and he would order anything they didn't have in stock, and they were pretty well stocked.

But like has been said, in the 90's they went lib and quit selling handguns. That's when I stopped buying any type of firearm from them. Although every Wal Mart I've ever been in around here carries plenty of long guns.

I ordered a Ruger 22 / 45 from a WalMart in Florida back in the late 90's. They never actually had them in inventory, but they were able to order just about any handgun back then.

I think they should get into the handgun market. I bet they would sell a load of them.

They should sell them. Think of all the billhillies packin' Jimenez and Hi-Points.

I remember seeing handguns in a Wal-Mart back in the early 90's or so. Or at least I seem to remember it anyway. I'm old and my memory plays tricks on me sometimes. So it's either "a long time ago" or "never."
