Look what the Pistol Fairy left!

Attachment 224008

All numbers match, dated 1917. Ehfurht, and it came with an issue holster dated 1936.

The P-38 also has all numbers matching. I have not yet been able to find out when it was manufactured, but there is a small Wehrmacht stamp on the right hand of the slide.

My Grandmother passed away recently. My Aunt(her daughter) was looking for an auction house to sell the contents of her house. I am glad we got there and took a look through the attic before she did. I knew growing up that my Grandfather was an infantryman in Europe during the war. He never, flat out never, would discuss it, not to his son(my Dad) nor anyone else in the family. The only thing I ever remember was his refusing to watch any war movies. These were in a small box with 2 Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, a small Nazi flag and an Iron Cross. My brother kept those.

My Grandfather drank himself to death in the mid-60's. I guess he couldn't get over what he saw and did. Pity. I would have loved to have had him tell me about it.

The P38 ought to have maker and date on the left side of the slide.

Those are great family heirlooms, and I am glad you got them before they got auctioned off.

Very nice Luger.

I am not quite sold on it yet, but one of these days the bug will kick in.

NICE!!

I remember when it seemed like every home had war bring backs. Now those finds are few and far apart. You have very nice war trophies. I'm sorry your Grandfather never could tell about their stories and that they are lost forever. The price that your Grandfather paid to get them so that you could have them as a free American now is far greater than what they would sell for today to a collector's very big bucks that they would command.
