EFK Fire Dragon 45 Comp

Sadly, I am still waiting on the barrel but I thought these pics might be interesting. I posted these because I felt that the website(efkfiredragon.com) leaves a little too much to imagination.

This finish is not original, it comes with a very thin black coating, I removed the finish with a q-tip and thread locker blue, this is the actual metal surface(aluminum).

This is going to be my test platform for the .460 Rowland. I should have my LWD 5.2" 45TH re-chambered by LWD for the .460 shortly. I believe that it is going to be interesting.

, just becareful with EFK, they have a bad (f--king horrible) rep for customer service. Google it and you'll find lots. When they get it right they make solid barrels. They have been to inconsistent for my taste with Glocks. I will say I have heard mainly good things with their XD barrels. Good Luck

Don't think I'll be worried about the warranty any more. Been having a little fun with the Dremel.

While researching compensators I have determined two things. One, the compensator provides a baffle or series of baffles to provide an immediate negation of rearward force on the barrel and Two, the re-direction of the gasses upward to provide a counter to the motion of the barrel being forced upward. After realizing these things I have come to the conclusion that the LWD compensator has no descernible baffling and that it is designed to force the gasses out of the sides as apposed to upward. Therefore, I believe that the LWD compensator makes the rig "look good" and nothing more.

Had I not purchased, and shot through the LWD 45 comp I might not accept this conclusion, but I have and it is justified. I have shot 185gr 45 Super @ 1300fps through a LWD 6.61" barrel w/LWD 45 comp and I did not notice any difference in the reaction of the pistol with or without the comp, except that it fed the ammo more reliably with the comp installed.

Aluminum huh? Interesting choice for a comp with baffles like that.

Let us know how holds up.

Just as soon as I can get to the shootin hole I'll be putting this thing into action.

I have high expectations for how this comp helps tame the .460 Rowland. The hottest 10mm I know of is 200gr @ 1300fps. This slightly watered down .460 that I have is a 230gr @ 1300fps. As soon as GA Arms gets some more ready it will be a 230gr @ 1350fps. And if that aint hot enough, they have a 185gr @ 1550fps.

Sadly, the Georgia Arms 460 Rowland 230gr GDHP will remain @ 1300 fps. They seem to have a problem with someone changing thier listing to 1350 fps. But one of the gurus told me that it will not change from 1300 fps because the primer cannot handle any more pressure.
