I was concerned about Taurus QC. My Slim 9 has been flawless with 115gr. WM's cheapest to Gold Dot +P and various 147gr. rounds. Right front pocket in a DeSantis Nemisis.

I use the bodyguard 380 as my BUG. Like it a lot more than I thought I would....really good gun. 100% reliable. Very comfortable. Only major critique is that the trigger sucks.

It is the Walther PK380. I have one and it is a reliable and accurate little pistol.

I like the PK380 because I had a P22 that I loved (although it was not reliable and cheaply made). I think the PK might be a tad large for what I want though....
Lots of options. I hadn't really considered a Mak. Is it reliable enough?

As LEO I'm sure that you know pistols and have a reason for looking at 380. With all the recent releases (and the classics) of small / mid sized 9s that's what I'd look at. I'm a Kahr fan personally but many options have been mentioned in both 380 and 9.

I was always a little interested with the S&W bodyguard. Its as small as the Kel Tec and Ruger LCP , but it seems to be better built. Unfortunately S&W made that laser standard and ruined it. Now its a pocket gun with added weight and something that you need to find a special holster for. The bodyguard without the laser would probably be a sweet pocket gun.
The Sig 238 is a sweet little 1911 pocket gun, if you like 1911s. Still like others have said if you go the 238, you are talking something the same weight and dimensions as a Kahr CM9 or other 9mm pocket gun.
If you just want to stick with .380 guns, that are a little bigger than a pocket gun, there is the Walther PPK, The Walther PK380, and the Bersa Thunder. Taurus Makes a Mil Pro in .380 but I don't know how reliable it is.

+2 I have one for each pocket and can hardly wait for the P938 to be released.

I agree...I've got the SIG P238HD model, and while slightly heavier compared to polymer .380 pistols, it is an excellent pocket pistol that shoots well. I trust my life and my family's lives with it when it's being carried.
Hornady Critical Defense for the carry ammo.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't your duty weapon a 9mm? Why not go for one of the compact 9's, like others have said? The SIG P290 looks good, as do the LC9 and others of that ilk. I think you'd be happier, and better served, with a 9mm over a .380. Just my personal opinion, though.

A friend bought a Bersa .380 and really likes it. While I wasn't much a Kahr guy in the past I'd look at the CW9.Good luck in your search. YMMV.tom.

That is the quandary with .380 pocket guns and 9mm pocket guns. It some point you get a nice solid .380 pocket gun like the Sig 238, and its pretty darn close to the size, weight and dimension of some micro 9mm pocket guns like the Kimber Solo and the Kahr PM9/CM9. At that point its a toss up.
For the record, the Sig290 at first seemed promising in length and width, its a 1.10" thick , 25 ounce brick.

My duty weapon is a .40 Glock.
As for 9mm, I'm certainly not against it, I just want to do some pocket carry.

If I wanted something a little bigger than a Kel Tec, I'd be looking at Walther PPK and PPK/S, Sigs or some of the old Colt .380's. Seems like a recently heard that Colt has reissued the Mustang, so I'd definitely look at that.

I'm just confirming that it does in fact exist.

Again, we are on a pretty tight budget. I appreciate all the replies but $300-$400 is about the max here.
My FIL has a Colt .380 and it's a neat little gun.

You said you don't like the LCP; what about the LC9?

I honestly don't know; I don't own one and haven't shot one. I'm pretty sure some of the guys in CT have them, though.

I have a Sig P238 and would recommend it. It's light, but very shootable. It's single action trigger and easy to see sights make it easy to hit stuff, even at 25 yards.
