S&W may actually now have a M&P that holds my interest!
I will be watching this gun very closely and waiting for the .40 S&W version.

Some 9mm M&P's have shown an issue with accuracy. Nothing that is not "combat accurate" except a really rare few.
BUT...the 45 ACP's have shown to be very accurate!!
Overall the M&P is a great design and with revisions will (should) turn out to be a excellent firearm.

I wish Glock would. I am trying to keep all my polymer/striker fired pistols Glock. Tired of waiting for a polymer single stack Glock 9mm. I hate to buy a one off but my patience has run out. Currently Kahr, S&W, Sig, Kimber, Walther,... have one. Time for Glock to step up.

If Crimson Trace produces a laser grip, I'd be VERY interested. Looking forward to seeing more.

Looks exactly like the safety on the S&W Bodyguard 380!

I find the M&P just as accurate if not more than my Glocks .

This will be a given. CT and S&W have worked very well together on the M&P laser grips although they are the thickest grip/backstrap.

My M&P is deifinitely at least as accurate as the Glocks I've owned. Since I prefer the M&P ergonomics, I am definitely more accurate with it than I am with Glocks.
I see a Shield in my future - I am excited about this one.
I also fully admit to being an unrepentant S&W fanboy, have been since purchasing my first 6906.

Snore...ZZZZ. Love my M&P 45 Compact though so I am not a complete M&P hater mind you. Will keep the G26 for a smaller gun and a 642 for a SMALL gun.

Same basic dimensions as a Ruger LC9.

That sucks. Ruger LC9, Kel Tec Pf9 and the Sig 938 are all around that 5.9" to 6" mark.
I like to see more 9mm pocket guns like the Beretta Nano and the Kahr PM9/CM9 that are around that 5.5" range.
Its funny how a half an inch in length can make a gun so much more pocketable.

I'm waiting to hear if a T&E model will become available in the near future. if so, I'll give it a close look and see if I want to add it to my collection of smallish 9's.
If they've managed to create a 3" subcompact M&P 9 with a 7-rd magazine capacity, it might make for a great companion/alternative to my CS9.
I've been occasionally thinking I might have to eventually look at a PPS for a really small, high quality 9mm subcompact (which is a rather complex little pistol from an armorer's perspective). It would interest me to find a smaller M&P-style to fill that role.
I'll be interested to see what slimming they've managed for the frame & slide. The CS9 has a rather short & slim slide, but the Hogue grips make the grip frame a bit chunky and thick. A thinner version of their plastic frame (or maybe something akin to the SW99/P99 compact with the smallest backstrap insert?) might make for a fine smallish 9mm.
I tried a LC9 recently, and even if it hadn't exhibited a repeated light-strike problem (which continued for the gun's owner after it had been repaired by Ruger, at which time he got rid of it), I'd still have been more than a little ambivalent about the grip ergos and the trigger.
I hope the loaded chamber "indicator" is the same visual inspection port S&W has been using for some years. I rather dislike the pivoting flag-style loaded chamber indicators. I've seen too many older Walther .380's that wouldn't feed because the plunger-type loaded chamber indicators & their springs seized. Adding another flag/lever/plunger, spring and pin to a gun means keeping more spare parts, if nothing else.
Different strokes, though.
I'm just glad they apparently didn't build it on their Bodyguard 380 platform.
That way they have a good chance of having made a robust 9/.40 ... and maybe they'll eventually bring out a .45 version (to replace their excellent little CS45 that was discontinued).
I wouldn't look for Glock to get involved in the "slim" 9/40 pistol market ... not until such time as they realize they need to use a thinner (all steel body) magazine.

What would you recommend? I have found my M&P to very reliable and accurate and both my KAHRs work without a hitch. I CCW these turds all the time.

That's what I'm hearing, sounds like a great little gun that is slight smaller than my PPS (thus, justifiable as a "need" to fill an empty slot in the collection).

If it's the same basic size as my LC9, I won't get one. But, if the Shield had been out when I was buying the LC9, I would have given it serious consideration.

That looks nice, but I think I'll just stick with my Glock 26 for now. I'm still waiting on the XDs to come out, as that is the only single stack subcompact I'm interested in right now.
