Desert Eagle 1911 -- Which direction for recoil spring?

I took down my Desert Eagle 1911 for the first time the other day. (Love this gun. Shot flawlessly. Super trigger!!) I didn't notice which way the recoil spring should go on the rod. There is a tightly bound end on one end of the spring, and a looser open end on the other end. I now have the tight coil placed into the buffer cap and the other end on the rearward end of the guide rod. Is this right or do I have it backwards? Thanks! Joe

Really doesn't matter which way it's installed. However, I place the
tight end over the spring guide and the loose in the cop.

Glad you like it.

I also think the trigger is awesome.
