Any department S&W M&P armorers?

I'm trying to locate a specific replacement spring for my M&P9.

Hoping that perhaps a fellow GT'er is an armorer for a law enforcement agency.

Not sure if a LEA armorer would be treated any differently by S&W than a "gun shop S&W armorer" as far as parts availability goes... But worth a try!

Issue: lost the sear spring that sits under the sear. Miracle of miracles I found the plunger. S&W said that they can't sell / give me one....I'd have to send my gun back in.

I've contacted Apex Tactical to see if they'll sell me just one of those springs instead of buying the whole spring kit. Haven't heard back yet. If I have to buy a whole spring kit just for this one itty bitty teeny tiny spring...guess I'll have to!

So... What are the chances that a fellow GTer can help a guy out?

Thanks!

Do you have a newer guy with the large spring or an older guy with smaller spring?

Oh crap... There's a difference?

I know that I don't have anything to compare it to. I know that the one I lost was TINY. If memory serves, like 1mm X 3mm or there about.

It was the same size as the one I cannibalized out of my 9fs (Actual spring lost came from 9c).

I traded said 9c on another 9fs yesterday - had to cannibalize the other pistol.

I've had the 9c I lost the spring out of for at least 3 years.

The 9fs I "borrowed" from I've had for several months, but I bought it used from Buds Guns.

There a way to tell "age" via serial #?

Thanks,

-J-

You definitely have a older (smaller) spring setup. Let me scrounge around.

The original/smaller plunger & spring are pretty easy to spot in these pictures.

I've got some of the smaller ones, but no spares of the larger ones at this time.

I can mail you 1 each of the old style itty bitty parts, but I've got too much going on to get them mailed until after the weekend. That a problem?

Use my listed email to provide the mailing address if you're interested. (Unless you've already gotten what you need from HAIL CAESAR, of course. )

Yes... Smaller set-up is what I have.

On Both of my 9fs pistols, actually.

I've got a line on a spring from a buddy, actually. He replaced all of his with an Apex kit.

Both of you gentlemen, I really appreciate the offer. Means a lot to me.

Another M&P issue of my own doing: (see a trend here? *sigh*)

So I trade my M&P9c for another 9fs - rarely carried it, rarely shot it. Might as well trade it....right? So I get it home and attempt to put an Apex sear in my new pistol. Get the sear assy. out just fine...other than it being a little stiff, no biggy.

Get the sear swapped and didn't lose the sear spring or plunger....miracle of miracles.

Go to put the sear assy. back in... And it's not going. Not going at all. EVERYTHING is lined up. So I push harder. No go. I push to the point where I think I'm going to puncture my hand on the sharp bits.

So I pull it out to see what's going on. Then out falls the frame-lock plug. It'd backed out just a bit when I removed the sear assy. When I went to reinstall it, it bent ever-so-slightly. No biggy...right? I file down a burr that I created and I use some flat pliers to try and straighten the rim some more. Then I orient it in such a way that the sear assy. is contacting the straight parts and won't catch the leading edge.

FINALLY get the pistol back together...hammer the pin back...put the slide on...check slide travel...

I must've done something to the trigger bar. That thing drags like crazy. I pull the trigger...and the slide wants to move a bit. If I get the trigger pulled, rack the slide, then reset the trigger and "fire" again from reset...it's perfect. But trigger out all the way? Something's wrong.

These M&P pistols are going to be the death of me. Doh!!!
