Dream AR build? Money no object
If you guys were to build the ultimate impingement AR using the very best individual parts, what would you pick out?

My ultimate AR build would look something like this, BCM 14.5 mid length upper, FDE everything, Aimpoint Micro.

Well.....my dream AR is the one I am enroute to obtaining. It is a Noveske 10.5 light shorty with switchblock and an Acog TA31-RMR on top. I am sending off the NFA trust info this week. I have to let my Colt and Kimber go to get it, but the sacrifice is well worth it to me.

It's sitting in my safe right now, just with a DD Mk. 18 rail in place of the Troy/VTAC rail on it currently, and an Aimpoint T1 to replace the M2.

I was thinking the best of each individual parts. Such as:
Upper:
Seekins
Barrel:
Noveske
Lower:
Seekins
BCG:
?? Something NiB coated
BCM
Trigger:
Geissele

Ultimate AR to do what? Even if money is no object, ultimate "sniper" AR is not the same as ultimate "hard use" AR.

My personal choice of "best" AR15 is a 14.5" PWS with a Surefire flash hider adaptor pinned on, custom furniture, and a Surefire 5.56 silencer. I wanted to combine the best attributes of all of the AR15's I have been issued and have personally owned in the last 15 years. That's what I came up with, and I am not disappointed.

I would have a hard time arguing against that setup. I'd throw a can on it and call it good. If not Noveske, a system similar to that but with a Colt lower

I may be incorrect but I believe a brake extends the life of the suppressor

i believe you are right but i would run it unsuppressed for awhile before i get a can and the FH doesnt have as much blast to the sides as a brake would.

Personally I'm a fan of the "man with one gun" philosophy, so my dream AR is a .308 carbine, DPMS 18" bbl w/SureFire brake/adapter, DanDef Lite 12.0 FFQR, UBR stock w/buttpad and aluminum strikeplate (THIS PIECE IS AWESOME!), VFG of choice, weaponlight of choice in mount of choice, JP trigger kit (sorry dude but those Giessele-type triggers are horrendously overrated, get a JP and have more adjustability for much less $$$), and a nice 3.5-10x mildot scope up top. (don't even need an additional reddot with 3.5x magnification available.) but put it in a QD mount (I prefer LaRue over ARMS, GG&G, AmDef, and Bobro) so that if anything happens you can revert to a set of KAC backup irons.
As for the other parts--
> Phase-5 Tactical EBRv2 (Extended Bolt Release) (like the Magpul BAD but better)
> YHM "EZ-Pull" Takedown & Pivot Pins (YHM may not sound prestigious but they're the only ones who make a product like that and you WILL be glad you bought them)
> BCM Gunfighter charging handle, Mod-4 latch. Yes, they're also made for .308's.
> JP also makes a spring very similar to the dual-capture Gen4 springs. I think they're the first to do this for rifles. This is one part I don't have personal experience with yet Get the carbine length kit to go in the UBR.
> Magpul MIAD grip kit w/appropriate grip core to hold batts for the weaponlight
> Separate Magpul MIAD trigger guard (the guards in the grip kits are plastic, but the standalone guards are aluminum)
> Sling of choice. I like my 2point BlueForce Vickers Combat Application sling.
Good luck with your build. If only we all could say that money is no object!!
EDIT: If money isn't a consideration, then go ahead and splurge on some parts that are purely cosmetic! ...Monolithic rifle-length upper, KNS Gen-2 Mod-2 Antiwalk pins, chromium bolt carrier, and even that stupid little D-shaped O-ring that goes between the bolt and the ejector. And THEN, get the whole thing hydro-dipped in Desert Digital! sexxxyyyyyyy

This is what I built in the 5.56 category and is about right where I want it. Fooling with some low power variables for a secondary optic. The concept was based around a 3 gun type rifle but with some minor tweaks it could serve critical use easy enough.
Lower
- Stripped Noveske GenII Flared Forged Lower (FFL) 5.56
- Colt lower parts
- Geissele S3G trigger (curved face)
- LMT ambidextrous safety selector
- Noveske QD end plate
- Vltor A5 receiver extension kit
- Vltor IMOD stock
- Magpul MOE + rubberized grip
- Magpul Batter Assist Device (BAD Lever)
- DSG Arms FDE mags w/ Magpul ranger plates.
Upper
- Noveske LW profile 16" SS midlength barrel
- BattleComp 1.0 (clocked @ 1:30)
- VTAC 13.0 Extreme Battle Rail
- VTAC QD sling attachment
- Noveske upper receiver
- EOTech Extreme EXPS 3.0
- Colt bolt carrier group
- BCM / Vltor Gunfighter charging handle with modified PRI combat latch
- LMT front and rear sights
- Streamlight TLR1s
- Blue Force Gear VCAS sling
Weight - As configured in the photo (dry weight, minus the mag) is 8lbs 8 ozs.

This is the route I went with my latest .308 build. Only changes if money was no object, is that I would top it off with a S&B optic.
This .308 Noveske was based off of a stripped Noveske N6 lower and a Noveske 18" barreled upper.
Lower
- Stripped Noveske N6 lower 7.62
- Colt Lower Parts w/Armalite Bolt catch, Bolt release, front and rear take down pins
- Geissele SDC trigger
- LMT ambidextrous safety selector
- Noveske QD end plate
- Magpul MOE K grip
- Magpul enhanced trigger guard
- Vltor AR10 carbine tube
- AR10 spec spring & Buffer (H3)
- Vltor EMOD stock
- Armalite M14 type newest generation mags (10, 20 and 25 rounders)
Upper
- Noveske 18" SS heavy barrel upper
- Noveske BCG
- BCM / Vltor Gunfighter .308 charging handle
- Noveske front and rear flip back up iron sights
- Smith Vortex Flash Hider (I have a BattleComp for the .308 but not sure I want to run it)
- American Defense S QD mount
- Leupold Mark4 ER 4.5-14 30mm FFP M5
- Harris Bipod with American Defense QD mount
- BFG Vicker VCAS sling
- Streamlight TLR1S light
- Magpul ladder rail covers
Weight - As configured in the photo (dry weight, minus the mag) is 13lbs 6 ozs.

I had the idea to build a great AR and started by defining it as all purpose with maximum reliability and versatility. In my mind, it had to be good enough to take into combat, although I would not want to ever need that.
Certainly defining the gun is vital.
This led to the decision to have a good rail and not a screwed on rail, despite the fact that the lighter weight and profile might be nice. I decided on a good chrome lined barrel, a 16 inch gun so no NFA stuff or welded parts to slow me down, and I had the the realization that the base gun was very important but the details like comps/flash hiders and sights were likely to change and evolve.
That became:
DD 16 in CHF upper midlength
12 in omega rail
Mega Billet ambi lower
BCM gunfighter mod 4
DD lpk
BCM bolt carrier group
magpul UBR, Miad, rail ladders
It wears an Eotech but has a Larue mount waiting on the new super sniper HD 1-6 FFP
VCAS sling with push button set up.
I built it in stages and it will have soon a giessele trigger group type still TBD,
I am also toying with the idea of a multicaliber .30 supressor.
Troy sights
surefire x300 on top of the rail.
If money were no object, I would have a different optic and dedicated surefire scout. I might have gone with a KAC upper and rail.
