Strange Wear on New Kimber ...

What do you guys think?

I called Kimber and described this to them. They said wear on the dust cover from the recoil spring is typical....

Baloney. That is not normal unless there is a fit problem. It probably is not dangerous, but it is definitely not supposed to do that.

And the wear probably isn't from the spring. Inspect closely and you will find what is dragging.

It has to be the recoil spring bushing, it doesn't have any "wear" on it though. I'm wondering if the dust cover was a bit high in that area.

I called Kimber again and supplied them the above photo. They ensure me that it is "normal" wear. Some do it, and some don't. It looks worse then it is, because you really can't feel it.

There is no reason for them to lie to you.

If you can't feel it with your finger, then I would say it is minor aesthetics.

Put lube on it and keep shooting, but keep an eye on it.
