elaborate bunker in the woods
I've never been to Washington state, but this sounds like the suspect built an elaborate bunker on public land, and had been stockpiling supplies there for quite some time. He has apparently retreated there after allegedly killing his wife & daughter, and then setting his house on fire. LE are now surrounding this bunker.
Anyone familiar with this area?

There is a fellow that lives just outside of our city (but adjacent to a subdivision that is within our jurisdiction) that has a bunker/pillbox type structure facing the roadway. It's concrete, surrounded by brush and even has a nice, rectangular slit cut into the front of it.
He's supposedly got several caches of ammunition, cash, gold and guns all over his property (according to his ex). Nice guy to talk to/deal with. Very respectful to LE...but I worry about him should he ever go on the nut...

If he went to all that trouble, he probably also has an escape tunnel. He may very well be gone already.

Forget entering the bunker. Just get a bulldozer and seal the entrance.
And if there's an escape tunnel, he'll turn up another time.

Absolutely! Our goal should be to disarm the citizenry, ensure they only have the bare minimum necessities to survive and make them dependent on the government. Think how safe we'll all be. The only thing missing would an absolute dictator and the Gestapo. . . .

Yeah. They said they gassed him, but he didn't come out. Think he may have a gas mask.
Gee, really... You think someone who has a bunker with body armor doesn't have a gas mask?? Yeah, this isn't your typical barricade. Eventually they are going to have to go in and get him. It's going to be messy.

Ops included rotating two special operations teams to monitor the "bunker." His ultimate undoing was taking glory photos of the location from the mouth of the bunker. Some smart work was done and with the help of some professional trackers, the bunker was located.
Some local TAC-30 and SPD SWAT guys who are pretty tired.

Like I said, he's a nice guy. Offered to buy us all beers at last summer's town festival. His kids are absolute turds but the guy's okay, just off his rocker. Trust me, I'm not taking shots at him because of his choice of "preparation" but I've been all over his property and it's just a bit too eery for me. To each his own. I'm sure the folks that live in the $400k + homes across the road from him love it (if they even notice it at all...)
