Retinal Phenomenon - explain this if you can !
Instructions:
1. Stare at the red dot on the girl's nose for 30 seconds.
2.Turn your eyes to a plain surface (your ceiling or blank wall).
3. Blink repeatedly and quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's called a ghost image or afterimage. The process behind positive afterimages is unknown, though thought to be related to neural adaptation.

Not unknown. The color cones basically 'get tired' of processing a color image that is static in the visual range. When you look at a light colored wall, the color cones (in this case blue)processing the original picture have not recovered, so the other color cones (red and green) processing the 'white' image appear brighter than the depleted cones, providing a inverted image until the original cones are replenished and function correctly.
Apparently no pre-med students where involved in the wikipedia . This process was actually identified and verified a long time ago through the study of primate color visual systems.
