Hi Joe, et. al.,
There were about 2000 Atlanta Olympic Security Team Glocks made. It was one of the biggest production runs of a commemorative by Glock for a long time, and so it is and was surprisingly common for quite some time. They still pop up fairly regularly.
Team members only could order up to 3 of these pistols, and they could be ordered with or without the display case. Glock sold about 1800-1850 of them to Security Team members in 1996/1997. Somewhere around 2002-2004, someone "found" the remaining, unsold pistols when Glock did a warehouse audit (or so goes the story...). These were sold to a distributor and hit the open market with no restrictions on who could buy one.
The only pins included may have been the silver shield-shaped 10th Anniversary of Glock in the US. I've heard some Sec. Team members say they got them, while others said they did not. If you are referring to any other pins, I'm guessing you saw the photos of my case. I've included the badges, patches, and lapel pins for the Security Team in my case. They just seem to add a little something to it IMO. (Necessary, I felt, since these pistols were so common at one time.)
IMO, the value of a NIB '96 Olympic Sec. Team Glock is around $650. Add another $150 for the case. (As time goes on, they get broken or lost, so that figure will keep going up.) I'm guessing the little silver 10th Anniv. pins are between $10-$20 now. To buy the Team pins, badges, patches, and shirts I have added to mine would probably cost at least $350 now, possibly more.
