If "Genevieve" was a composite of multiple girls he dated in NY, then maybe his reference to eating "...dog meat (tough)..." was a composite of the multiple dogs he ate as a kid?

It's the "other" America. Lies, make-believe, fantasy, wishes, hope and change............. it's a way of life. They are a world apart from the "normal" America of hard work, faith, family, self sufficiency. They want it all, without all of the hard work. So they "believe" it has come true for them, all the while lying to themselves. It's a fairly simple observation if you take the blinders of PC off.

Hum. When a nyc reporter invents people for a story on street people using drugs, etc., that reporter gets the boot. Even when they win the Pulitzer for their inventive little story, they get the boot. But when the squatter gets caught playing make-believe with his auto-biography, someone just hands him the toilet tissue and lets him flush the whole thing. Open the window! The smell lingers.
